Yes, you can select different shapes for your veil, depending on the look you want to accomplish. Here you'll find a short run-down of some common shapes. If you know of a shape or have questions about your veil and the information is not included here, please ask! Extra charges will apply for extra layers.
Rectangle or Square Shape...
The most basic veil shape will be the Rectangle or Square shaped veil. This veil will work best with crowns and wreaths where the veil drops directly from the back of the headpiece, "Fountain" style. 108", 72" or 54" width veiling will do just fine; it all depends on how thick you want the gathers (where it is attached to your headpiece). And, if you want a pouf, they are often incorporated with this shape veil.
Oval Shape...
The most common shape is oval, which means the corners of the veil are rounded. If you have a headpiece where the veil comes from the front, "Fountain" style, rather than the back, you will need a full-oval so that the sides lay smooth. A half-oval is appropriate for back-pieces or wreaths, "Base" style, where you don't have to worry about the sides because the veil will drop directly from the back of your head. Poufs can also be incorporated into a headpiece with an oval veil.
Teardrop Shape...
The Teardrop veil allows you to have a veil with the bottom width of 108", 72" or 54" but with very few, if any, gathers at the top where it attaches to your headpiece. This works best with a cathedral length veil attached "Base" style, with backpieces, wreaths, and crowns. Poufs are not recommended with a teardrop veil unless you don't mind that the veil appears smooth and narrow under the gathers of the pouf.
Circle Shape...
The primary feature of a circle veil is its edge because it will be continuous around the bottom of the veil and won't appear to be coming down from the headpiece. This veil is usually gathered at its center, so that it is a folded circle, and usually looks the best with shoulder, elbow, or fingertip length. The circle veil gathered this way, looks great with any style of headpiece and can be attached either "Fountain" or "Base" style. The diameter of the circle depends entirely on the length of the veil you want. If you want a fingertip circle, it can be 36 inches long (72" diameter circle folded in half). Your veil can completely surround your upper body if you pull the top part of the circle over your head for the blusher.
Please note: This would be considered a two layered veil or a veil with two tiers.
The other way to gather the circle veil is at one of it edges. This would be used for a veil when the desired look is for the veil to be very flowing, hanging very smoothly, and not very full. The circle veil gathered this way, appears to have a continuous rounded edge with no straight edges at all. It looks best with veils attached "Base" style with backpieces, bows, wreaths, or crowns.
