This is the Creative Expressions Bridal Veils Lengths Page where you will find everything that you need to know about the lengths of Creative Expressions veils and their appropriate use. The lengths stated here are Creative Expressions standards. You may choose to have more or less, and I will certainly accommodate your wishes. There is no extra charge for custom lengths on veils that fall below the two yard amount included in your custom made headpiece. And please keep in mind the three standard WIDTHS available that will determine the fullness of your veil at its gathering point. (54" - 72" - 104")
Shoulder...
This length weighs the least and goes best in a morning, afternoon, or semi-formal wedding. It also appeals to brides who have a lot of beadwork on the back of their gown and who don't want their veil to cover-up the detailing. The shoulder veil usually ends below the shoulders, but it can be made to end at the shoulder, above it, or even shorter. i.e.- ear level. A blusher usually can not be used with shoulder veils if you want all your veiling to be the same length. (an option would be to use a detachable blusher to be removed immediately after the ceremony). Creative Expressions Shoulder veils are 16 inches long.
Elbow...
This length is in between the shoulder and fingertip lengths, for those brides who want a compromise. If you can't decide between shoulder and fingertip, then this is the length for you! This veil can be used with a blusher. Creative Expressions Elbow veils are 28 inches long.
Fingertip...
Probably THE most common veil, it can have a shorter blusher attached to it, if you wish. This veil is best suited for semi-formal and formal weddings, but, of course, it can be used with any wedding style. The fingertip veil falls just beyond the ends of your middle fingers but can be made shorter or longer as needed. Creative Expressions Fingertip veils are 36 inches long.
Cathedral...
The heavy cathedral veil flows beyond the edge of your wedding gown and usually covers a good portion, the entire length of, or beyond the train; how much it covers or overlaps beyond is up to you! It should be used primarily in very formal and evening weddings, but, you are the one wearing it and you ultimately decide if it will work for your wedding style. Creative Expressions Cathedral veils are 72 inches long (standard). But as you can see, some may prefer the longer look of the 104 inches (plus) or 136 inches (long).
