01 A WINCHESTER Model 1895 Sporting Rifle - the very same year that Goldfield came into existence! Serial #418XXX (c1926), 30GOV'T'-06, 24" round barrel showing about 23 1/8". Original, not a reproduction or knockoff!!! End pad is "TRUSTWORTHY" - about 42 1/2" OAL - shows last pat. date of Aug 6, 1907 - weighs about 9 lbs. LYMAN (WR) sights F&R - checkered Walnut straight grip stock and forearm - has sling swivels. About 426,000 were produced in several different styles from 1895 to 1931, with almost 300,000 Musket models going to Russia in 1915/16. This old beauty is in great original condition with no restoration or damage - it shows normal wear/tear of an treasured hunting rifle that was used, and maintained, with loving care. The BATF has determined this firearm to be a "curio or relic" per 18 U.S.C., Chapter 44, and as defined in 27 CFR 178.11. Can only be shipped to a licensed firearms dealer upon receipt of a signed FFL in blue ink. It can be picked up personally by an Arizona buyer, over the age of 21, from the seller w/o the FFL. $4,450.00

02 An 'Application for License' (printed form completed in ink), March 22, 1901, submitted to City of Goldfield by the Udick Brothers (Henry? & Andy), asking permission to 'keep a saloon at Lot 4 in Block 16, Townsite of Independence (inked in), Colo.' Three pages with the second being the 'Bond for License' and the third being the notarized section for the "sureties on the within bond.". In EXCELLENT condition showing minor wear/tear - has folds. $395.00

03An 'Application for License' (printed form completed in ink) dated March 26, 1901, submitted to City of Goldfield by Charles A. Bohlen, asking permission to 'keep a saloon at Lot 16 in Block 17, City of Independence (inked in), Colo.' Three pages with the second being the 'Bond for License' and the third being the notarized section for the "sureties on the within bond.". In EXCELLENT condition showing minor wear/tear - has folds. $395.00

04A handwritten letter (ink) from Thomas K. Raley, dated Nov. 9, 1898 addressed to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Goldfield. It contains charges of misconduct (drunk, disorderly and assault w/deadly weapon) that Raley is filing against the dastardly City Marshal, James Owens. Plus a short handwritten statement (pencil) by JW Ashby, dated Nov. 16, 1898, in which Ashby states he was with Marshal Owens shortly before the trouble with Raley, and that the Marshal was sober. Plus an envelope with the imprinted return address: A.W. GRANT, Town Clerk and Recorder, Goldfield, Colo., and written in ink on the front: papers in charges preferred by Thos Raley against Marshal Owens. All in EXCELLENT condition. $395.00

05A typewritten letter, one page, with blue cover, undated, addressed to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Goldfield, Colorado. It contains charges against the despicable Marshal William Dewey - that he frequents the saloon run by Tom Brown, drinking and gambling with the "frequenters" of that rowdy place; and goes on further with more serious charges. Asks for an investigation of the Marshal. Signed by Mead Meskimon. In EXCELLENT condition. $395.00

06Ordnance No. 63. Original, handwritten in ink, 3 pages, dated March 15, 1899, signed by Mayor H. King and H.L. Reynolds - Clerk. Has embossed seal of TOWN OF GOLDFIELD. An "Appropriation Bill" establishing various funds, and amounts for them in the next fiscal year. In EXCELLENT condition. $165.00

07. City of Goldfield's copy of suit papers filed in the District Court of the United States, District of Colorado, Sitting at Denver. Brought by Mary E. Wilcox on 4 April, 1928 - asks for $7,000 for matured water bonds that the city has failed to pay. Standard court filing form signed by Plaintiff's attorney with the court clerk & deputy clerk attesting to it as "A true copy" - bears the raised court seal. Three page complaint attached. In EXCELLENT condition. $75.00

08.  Agreement between The Colorado Electric Power Company and the Town of Goldfield, dated Aug. 13, 1898, giving the CEPC the right to provide electricity to the town. Three typewritten pages (w/blue cover), the first is signed by the CEPC President and Secretary, bears the company embossed seal and a $.50 documentary stamp (series of 1898). Second and third pages are "Exhibit A", a draft of the proposed town ordinance to grant such right to CEPC. All in EXCELLENT condition. $150.00

9. Expenditure memo handwritten in ink on "City of Goldfield" letterhead (very rare), dated Nov. 8, 1922, regards cost of constructing a "box" at the fire plug at 8th & Independence. Bears three signatures (Trustees?) - letterhead lists all city officials & aldermen - 8 1/8" x 10 3/4". In EXCELLENT condition. $75.00

10.  A "Warranty Deed"(printed form: it is completed in ink), Feb. 2d, 1903, in which the "Ladessa Gold Mining and Milling Co." assigns a small portion of it's mining claim to Goldfield. About 11" x 17", it is signed by Ladessa officials and bears it's embossed seal, plus the embossed notary seal of "Eliza S. Cohen, Notary Public, El Paso County, Colo." In EXCELLENT condition. $155.00

11. SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!!!  Warranty Deed (printed form completed in ink), Nov. 6, 1902, in which Richard Langsford assigns a small piece of his property to Goldfield. About 11" x 17", notarized by Theodore F. Doty (w/embossed seal) Oct. 24, 1902. In EXCELLENT condition. $115.00

13.   Estimate furnished by Harry Parker, Independence, Colorado, dated Sept. 10, 1900, handwritten with pencil, to paint the Goldfield "Hose Tower" same color as the "Hose House" for $30.00. About 8" x 6" - in EXCELLENT condition. $40.00

14 Proposal, dated October 19, 1900, on three typewritten pages (w/blue legal cover), by J.E.McRay to sell his water works system to the City of Goldfield, Colorado (THE GREATEST GOLD CAMP ON EARTH) for the sum of $22,000.00 in warrants. Signed by McRay and J.D.Clark - in EXCELLENT condition. $180.00

15An "Application for License"(printed form completed in ink), May 24th, 1901, submitted to Goldfield by Jos. Ross and Wm. Weber, asking permission to keep a "Grocery (saloon)" in the town of Independence. Three pages, with the second page being the "Bond for License" signed by Ross and Weber, and as "sureties" James W. Levan, Lawrence McNulty and O. Opdyke. Third page is the sworn surety bond of James W. Levan given to "E.D. McDougall, Justice of the Peace", and so signed. In EXCELLENT condition. $395.00

16 A three page handwritten (ink) Goldfield, Colorado "Resolution to Prevent Spreading of Smallpox", dated March 5, 1899. In essence it states that there are cases of smallpox in Victor and declares a quarantine in the Town of Goldfield (The Greatest Gold Camp on Earth). Details all of the procedures and regulations proposed to protect the population. About 8 1/2" x 11" - in excellent condition with the except of a crease tear on each page several inches long where it had been folded. Signed by A.W.Grant, Clerk & Recorder - the place for the Mayor's signature is unsigned. $185.00

17 Postcard, c1900, showing the Independence Mines, about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". Caption at top reads: "INDEPENDENCE MINES, GOLDFIELD, CRIPPLE CREEK, DISTRICT, COLO." Pencil inscribed on rear, but has no stamp or postmark. In excellent condition showing minor wear/tear. $50.00

18 This is a delightful fantasy token sold through the Deep River Armory in Houston, Texas during the 1970s as a novelty item. Stamped brass about 1 1/8" diameter. In the early 1900s miner strikes were occurring in many of the western states. The Colorado National Guard was sent to the Cripple Creek Mining District in 1903/04, and there may have been a "Camp Goldfield" established for them, although there is no record of that. $50.00

19 Liquor License Application receipt dated Sept. 1, 1898, in the amount of $41.70, from Goldfield, Colorado (when still a part of El Paso County) to John Dempsey (any relationship to Jack Dempsey, the prize fighter, is unknown). About 7 1/2" x 4 5/8", black printing on light blue paper - filled in with ink handwriting and signed by A.W. Grant, Clerk and Recorder. In EXCELLENT condition - two folds. $60.00

20 Two related legal documents from June, 1898. First is a State of Colorado printed form #604 - Attachment Writ J.P. Filled out in ink and dated June 29, 1898 it states that Orville Riggs is indebted to A.F. Mosher in the amount of $18.10 - signed D.S.Wright (as J.P. at Independence, Colorado). Second is a printed form filled out in ink, signed by Constable Morrison, and dated June 29, 1898. It orders the Town of Goldfield, Colorado to garnish property of Orville Riggs in this matter, and etc. and etc. Both are in EXCELLENT condition showing minor wear/tear and folds. $145.00

21 Town of Goldfield, Colorado (Cripple Creek Mining District) license #19, to "Booth & Doty", to "Sell, Vend and Retail Vinous, Spirituous and Fermented Liquors..." from May 11, 1899 to Nov. 11, 1899. The license, about 12 1/2" x 10 1/2" was never completely filled out, but is signed by Anna C. Dusell, Town Clerk. It still has the "Retail Liquor License" record page (nearly complete - about 5 3/4" x 10 1/2") attached from the record book. In EXCELLENT condition - no folds - the license has some creases/wrinkles, and the edges are browned and frayed somewhat. Dark blue printing on light blue paper - from "Carbary's Stationery Store, Victor" - perfect for framing. $150.00

22 A claim presented against Goldfield by "James Brown" in the amount of $1100.00, dated Nov. 16, 1905 for services and salary as Street Supervisor and Water Superintendent from 6-16-04 to 4-20-05. Typewritten on a single legal page with blue cover - front of cover shows the particulars. $135.00

23 A Golden Cycle Mining Company tax payment receipt for the year 1901. Teller County Treasurer's Office printed form dated 9-20-1905 with inked in portions showing it to be a "duplicate" of the 1901 tax receipt for $1601.43 for the Goldfield City Tax Account. Signature of S.A.Phipps - EXCELLENT condition, normal folds. $80.00

24 A handwritten (ink) notice from the Goldfield, Colorado Mayor and Aldermen, dated November 10, 1902 on a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper bearing the stamped heading (crossed out in ink) of "T.F.DOTY, ATTORNEY AND COUNSELOR. GOLDFIELD, COLO." States that a special meeting will be held 11-11-02 to discuss a Auditing Committee Report. Bears the signatures of the Mayor and five Aldermen at the bottom. EXCELLENT condition, normal folds. $135.00

25 Wonderful treasure from the American wild west era - but, this bronco busting cowboy is wearing red lipstick, could he be one of those New York 5th Avenue Dudes on his first trip out West? Multi-colored (by hand??) litho print, c1900, in what appears to be a commercial framing. Image size is about 11 3/4" square, wooden frame size is about 17 1/8" square - completely original including the glass, just opened up for refurbishing and then resealed. No identification anywhere - designed to be diamond hung - has a deco faux "bit" at the top point, deco faux "horseshoe" at the bottom point, and hat/coat hangers on the point of either side. In EXCELLENT condition showing very minor wear/tear to frame and image - no repairs or restoration. $635.00



26 This old leather knife scabbard was given to the original owner as a child in the 1890s. He believed it was obtained as a tourist item in the American Southwest during the late 1800s. About 4 1/4" x 10" it is hand tooled with a freehand impressed multicolored profile portrait of an American Indian in full headdress - crossed tomahawk and knife above that. It is in EXCELLENT condition, still supple, and might show brighter colors if properly cleaned. $365.00

27 A June 14, 1905 claim, for damages caused by flooding, made by A.J.Day to Goldfield, Colorado. One page, typewritten on legal size paper with a blue cover - signed in ink by Day and Attorney Daniel A. Ferguson. In EXCELLENT condition showing minor wear/tear - normal folds. $135.00

28 Old pocket revolver from the Goldfield era - 5 shot 30 cal(?) - marked on the top of the barrel "US PISTOL CO." - no serial #. Black bakelite(?) handles each with an "S" in a circle at the top - most of the nickle plating now gone. In GOOD condition for it's age showing much wear/tear - functions, but only a FOOL would attempt to fire it. Offered only as a conversation piece, something that the average mining town man would have carried on his person - cheap protection. Can only be shipped to a licensed firearms dealer upon receipt of a signed FFL in blue ink. It can be picked up personally by an Arizona buyer, over the age of 21, from the seller w/o the FFL. $125.00

29 HUGE completely original, except for the missing glass, 1918 US Army unit group photo taken at Camp Cody, New Mexico. NOT A COPY OR REPRODUCTION!! Shows 300+ men and officers of the Base Hospital. In white printing under the group is: "A. Newman Photo Co. Deming N.M. Medical Detachment Base Hospital Camp Cody N.M. Dec.4-1918 Lt.Col. A.O.Davis M.C. C.O. Capt. J.E.Hastings Det.Com.". Picture itself is about 8"x47", OAS including pressed wood frame is about 10 7/8" x 49 5/8". In overall GOOD condition with a small tear in the lower r/edge, picture is dirty and needs professional cleaning. Frame needs corners reglued, and it needs a new glass. $325.00
