01. Town of Goldfield letter, 2-14-1900, one page, handwritten in ink on city letterhead paper - 1900 date is inked in. The only Goldfield letter known to exist that lists in the letterhead all city officials/trustees, AND contains as part of the letterhead, "THE GREATEST GOLD CAMP ON EARTH." It addresses certain Aldermen informing them of a special session on that date, and is signed by the Mayor, four other Aldermen, and the City Clerk. In EXCELLENT condition. $600.00

02Golden Cycle Mining Company, Colorado Springs, Colo., Sept. 2d, 1905, to Goldfield - concerns taxes levied. Typewritten on two pages, both with company heading in black listing officers and directors. Signed by H. McGarry as General Manager (he is listed as VP and Gen. Counsel on letterhead). Pertains to 1901 taxes levied against the company by the city. In EXCELLENT condition. $75.00

Typewritten on UBNC letterhead paper (beautiful one color litho work), one page, signed by F.D. Crabbs, President & Treasurer. Regards city warrants shipped. In EXCELLENT condition. $50.00

04SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!! A letter from the "CITY COUNCIL ROOMS" of Central City, Colorado, dated July 21, 1902, to Valentine Getz (City Clerk?), Goldfield. On city letterhead paper (listing all officials), handwritten in ink, one page, signed by M.K. Sullivan, City Clerk. Discusses the water reservoirs in Central City, costs, and etc. In EXCELLENT condition. $70.00

05A letter from the "HENDRIE & BOLTHOFF MFG. AND SUPPLY CO.", dated July 21, 1902, to Valentine Goetz, Town Clerk, Goldfield. Typewritten on HBM&S letter paper (beautiful one color litho work listing company officials and depicting three buildings), one page, regards "reservoir" bids. In EXCELLENT CONDITION. $75.00

06SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!! A letter from the "PUEBLO LITHOGRAPHING & PRINTING CO.", June 27, 1900 to Hatie D. Mapes, City Clerk, Goldfield. Typewritten on company letterhead paper (absolutely beautiful one color litho work - very detailed), one page, regards a bid to provide city warrants. Includes one sample of their work, a blank city warrant from the "TOWN OF SHERIDAN, COLO." (good condition). In EXCELLENT condition. $80.00

07A letter from the "OFFICE OF STAR BOILER AND SHEET IRON WORKS", Denver, dated July 18, 1902 to the City of Goldfield. Handwritten in ink on company letterhead paper and signed by John Wich. Regards a bid price on some type of large tank the city wanted. In EXCELLENT condition. $50.00

08A letter from "THE BOSTON STORE", Victor, dated 1900 to the City of Goldfield. Handwritten in ink on company letterhead and signed by I. Amter. Regards payment of $5.00 fee for six months permit. In EXCELLENT condition. $50.00

09A form letter from the Teller County Treasurer, Nov. 12, 1929 to C.C. Schwerdt, Treasurer of Goldfield, one page, regards 1928 taxes. Signed Walter D. Tatum. In EXCELLENT condition. $25.00

10. A proposition, typewritten on legal size paper w/o company letterhead, made by THE COLORADO SPRINGS & CRIPPLE CREEK DISTRICT RAILROAD COMPANY to the Goldfield City Council, Oct. 27, 1902, three pages plus a blue cover. It asks for the privilege of extending a spur from it's main line to the Eagle Sampler Mine. Signed by F.C. Smith, Gen. Supt. of the railroad. In EXCELLENT condition. $100.00

11A one page typewritten letter from the LAW OFFICES OF LUNT, BROOKS & WILLCOX, 56-61 BANK BUILDING, COLORADO SPRINGS/201-203 FAIRLEY BUILDING, CRIPPLE CREEK, dated July 21, 1900 to HON. T.F. DOTY, CITY ATTORNEY, GOLDFIELD, COLO. It asks that the franchise matter of the C.S. & C.C.D. Ry. Co. be postponed to a later date. Lists attorneys in the letterhead, is signed by O.B. Willcox and is in EXCELLENT condition. $50.00

12SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!!  A letter from the RAYMOND-WITTENBERGER HARDWARE CO., Aug. 24, 1901, to the Mayor of Goldfield. One page, handwritten in ink on company letterhead paper (wonderful one color litho work), regards a claim for damages against the city. It is signed by J.M. Wittenberger, and shows an address of "Independence, Colo." In EXCELLENT condition. $75.00

13SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!! A letter from THE WOODS INVESTMENT CO, OFFICE OF THE PIKE'S PEAK POWER COMPANY, Aug. 5, 1901 to Hattie Mapes, Goldfield, one page, typewritten on company paper with it's beautiful one color litho work - lists company officials and sub-companies. Regards an outstanding bill and is signed by H.E. Woods, Vice President. In EXCELLENT condition. $75.00

14SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!! The Eagle Ore Company, Victor, Colo., Oct. 19th, 1905, to Goldfield concerning 1904 assessed taxes. Typewritten on three pages, each with a beautiful and detailed letterhead embossed to the right of the American Eagle standing on the Union shield. Lists all company officers and directors. Signed by Nelson Franklin, President and Gen. Manager. In EXCELLENT condition. $120.00

15SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!! A typewritten letter from the W.H.KISTLER Stationery Co., Denver, dated June 30, 1900 to the City of Goldfield, Colorado. One color litho letterhead - about 8 1/2" x 11" - in EXCELLENT condition. Regards warrants for the city. $50.00

16One page typewritten letter from McFarlane & Co. of Denver, Colo, dated July 18, 1902 to the City of Goldfield regarding bid on city water tank. On company one-color litho letterhead showing an electric hoist. About 8 1/2" x 11" - in EXCELLENT condition. $65.00

17One page typewritten letter dated November 7, 1900 with the imprinted heading of Henry M. Blackmer, Attorney and Counsellor, Giddings Building, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Addressed to the City of Goldfield and regards a claim by J.E.Rockwell - signed by Karl C. Schuyler. In EXCELLENT condition - about 8 1/2" x 11". $60.00

18 Trouble (with a capital T) in The Greatest Gold Camp on Earth!! One page typewritten letter dated Sept. 17th, 1901, with letterhead of "The Woods Investment Co. Office of The Pike's Peak Power Company, Victor, Colo." Addressed to the City of Goldfield complaining about School Boys breaking the globes on their Arc Lamps - and asks that officers be on the lookout for the offenders. Beautiful one color litho work listing all company officials and all sub-companies - about 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" - in EXCELLENT condition. $85.00

19 May be the only extant 1899 letter with "The Town of Goldfield" letterhead showing all city officials and trustees by name. One page, about 8 1/2" x 11", handwritten with ink to the Trustees notifying them of a special town council meeting on Aug. 19, 1899. Dated Aug. 19, 1899 and bears the signatures of the Mayor, six Trustees, and the City Clerk. In EXCELLENT condition with the exception of small chips at the ends of two creases, and at the upper right corner. $600.00

20 A handwritten letter (ink), dated May 4, 1901, with the "AETNA INSURANCE COMPANY" letterhead, addressed to the Mayor & City Council of Goldfield, Colorado. Letterhead shows F.R. Coffin, Goldfield, Colo. as agent for Aetna. It concerns damage being done to a particular lot in Goldfield by flowing water, and asks the city to do something about it. It is signed by Coffin under "THE GOLD KNOB MINING & TOWNSITE CO." Written at the bottom in pencil is: "Recd May 4 - 1901." In EXCELLENT condition - about 8 3/8" x 10 7/8". $80.00

21 One page typewritten letter (about 8 1/4" x 10 7/8") dated November 28, 1899, with letterhead of "The Gold Belt Electric Company - Cripple Creek District - Colorado" (upper l/corner printed: "Furnishing electric lighting to the cities and towns of Victor, Cripple Creek, Altman, Goldfield, Independence, Anaconda."). Addressed to the City Clerk, Goldfield, it states that Goldfield Ordnance #43 granting a franchise for electric lighting to N H Cone has been assigned to them - bears the signature of a company official. Attached is a legal document regarding the assignment, bearing the raised seal of GBEC and many signatures of company officers and directors (about 8 1/2" x 12 3/4"). Both in VERY GOOD condition with normal wear/tear. $185.00

22SOLD-SOLD-SOLD!!!  Typewritten letter from Stumpf & Steurer Publishers of New York, dated 10-5-1898, to Goldfield City Treasurer. Great embossed litho letterhead. Asks the name & price paid by the successful bidder for the $25,000 Water Bonds and other info. About 8 1/2" x 7 1/4" - pasted to that is a short form (The American Banker - Daily Bonds News) to be filled in with the info. Both in EXCELLENT condition. $75.00

23 Two typewritten letters to the town of Goldfield, with the letterhead of "H.G. LAING, ATTORNEY AT LAW ....COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.", and both signed by Laing. The first is dated 9-27-1901 and claims that a man with small pox, and a nurse, were found occupying a cabin on the Lilly Mine property. Occupants stated that the cabin was being used as a Pest House by the town. The Lilly Mine owners ask $200 in damages. The second letter is dated 10-6-1901 and is responding to Goldfield's reply (not available) which apparently stated that the town had purchased the property legally. It states in substance that the Lilly Mine owners had never sold the cabin to the town. Both letters are about 8 1/2" x 11", have three folds each, and are in EXCELLENT condition. $80.00

24 A typewritten letter dated June 30, 1900 with the lovely two color (black & red) detailed litho letterhead of "The Hall Lithographing Co." of Topeka, Kans. It is addressed to the Goldfield City Clerk and submits three samples of lithographed warrants for consideration - Victor Colo, Pueblo Colo & Florence Colo. Everything is in EXCELLENT condition with the usual folds. $110.00

25 Typewritten letter dated October 25, 1930 bearing the letterhead of "L.STEWART COX" Teller County Colorado Assessor. Addressed to "Mrs Gertrude Tucker, Goldfield, Colo." and advises that "the Valuation for the City of Goldfield for the year 1930 is $92,240.00." About 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" - in EXCELLENT condition with folds. Inked signature of "L.S.Cox." $50.00

26 A one page typewritten letter dated March 29, 1902 from "The Denver Boiler and Sheet Iron Works Co. (on their letterhead) to Goldfield giving estimates on water(?) tanks - no signature. In EXCELLENT condition - with folds. $50.00

27 Several documents concerning "The Vindicator Consolidated Gold Mining Company" and taxes imposed on it's property by the City of Goldfield. #1 document is a one page typewritten letter with the letterhead of 'Hildreth Frost, Attorney at Law, Colorado Springs, Colo.' - dated February 8, 1922 and addressed to the City of Goldfield. It states that he, Frost, cannot make the Council meeting the following night as scheduled in a previous letter. Signed by Frost - in EXCELLENT condition with folds. #2 document dated 2-8-22 consists of 3 typewritten pages from Frost to the City of Goldfield. Details a property tax problem going back to 1901, a 'Roger Judgment', and attempts to resolve the matters. Signed by Frost - in EXCELLENT condition with folds. Included with it are 5 typewritten legal pages pertaining to the problem with resolutions by 'The City of Goldfield' (but unsigned). Grand total of nine (9) pages - all in EXCELLENT condition with folds. $165.00

28 Two related authentic documents, both in EXCELLENT condition with three folds each, and straight pin holes upper right . The first is a request dated June 21, 1901, handwritten in ink, on 8 1/2" x 11" paper with a printed letterhead of "APEX SALOON, L.P. ROLL & CO. W.P. KIRBY, Manager. Altman, Colo.". Altman is inked out and "Goldfield" is written in front of it - it is signed by M.M. Creedy & Chas. Oakley, and they are asking the town of Goldfield to grant them a license to keep a Saloon at Lot 16 in Block 16. Second document is a "SURETY BOND - Revised 1889" (The Out West Printing Co), filled out in ink, in the amount of two thousand dollars, given by Creedy, Oakley, S.A. Van Tilberg, and J.S. Murphy, to the town, for the Saloon License. Signatures of all four men at the bottom. $395.00

29 A ink handwritten two page letter dated August 23, 1901 showing the litho letterhead of the "COLORADO STATE BOARD OF HEALTH" - Officers and Members are listed at the top right, and the State Capitol Building is shown on the left side. It is addressed to the Mayor of Goldfield, Colorado and concerns a recent inspection of the Cripple Creek Mining District. Enclosed with the letter is a typewritten plan to improve the health conditions of the District. Number 7 recommendation is interesting in that it regards "houses of prostitution." All 3 pages are in EXCELLENT condition showing folds and minor wear/tear. $160.00

30 One page typewritten letter with detailed litho heading of "The Denver Wire & Iron Works Company" - dated August 3, 1900. One color letterhead shows the plant and lists the officers - it is addressed to the City of Goldfield and offers to build the city jail for $1412.00. Ink signature of Frank White. EXCELLENT condition with folds/creases and normal wear/tear. $95.00
