Our new product, the GTI-200 grid-tied inverter |
Safety issues regarding the Grid-Tied Inverter The grid-tied inverter produces lethal voltage levels, and is able to energise the mains electricity network. This means that the inverter MUST cease operation and be disconnected from the mains network whenever the network voltage or frequency becomes unstable, or is required to be de-energised deliberately. In the UK, "G-83" describes the protocol required to shut down generators which are connected to the electric mains. The European standard EN50438 describes all the requirements in detail. |

Average Voltage Instability All our inverters will disconnect within 10 full voltage cycles whenever the mains supply voltage has risen or fallen by 2% within 5 voltage cycles. |
Frequency Instability All our inverters will disconnect within 10 full voltage cycles whenever the mains supply frequency has risen or fallen by 2% . |
