The Grid-Tied (or grid-connected) Inverter.

Grid-tied inverters allow electrical power produced by

  • wind
  • solar
  • fuel cells
  • hydropower

to be converted into "house current" for direct injection into the local mains utility power circuit.

Unlike "ordinary" inverters, the grid-tied inverter lets you use wind, water or solar power at any time WITHOUT the need for expensive energy storage. Connection is made at the consumers side of the electricity meter, so that locally-produced power will offset any local load. The electricity meter will run slower, because power is being supplied on the Customer's side.

This results in lowered electricity bills.

This is not only LEGAL, it is also NOT too good to be true!

Many European power supply companies will actually pay for any excess power produced, making the grid-tied inverter an even better investment prospect.

FAQ: How soon will it pay for itself?

European electricity prices generally lie between 12 and 15 Euro cents per unit. (A unit is a kilowatt-hour). Our 200W grid-tied inverter operating at full power will save €219 worth of electricity EACH YEAR at € 0.125 per unit.

The GTI-200 grid-tied inverter will therefore pay for itself within two years, making it one of the most attractive longer-term investments that you can make.

Use our grid-tied inverters with solar PV, fuel cell or wind/water turbines to immediately save yourself energy costs.

The End of an Era

Mains electricity in Europe is getting expensive, making it more and more cost-effective to produce electricity from other energy sources such as wind, water and solar power. The energy from these sources either needs to be stored, or converted into mains power.

Storage is very expensive with the technology currently available, and selling the power to the local electricity utility avoids the need for storage.

The grid-tied inverter, also known as a grid-connected inverter, is the crucial link between the source and the electricity supply.Green sources such as PV and fuel cells produce power with varying frequency and voltage levels.

Connecting new power sources to the electric mains

The grid-tied inverter is the electronic device which can handle various forms of electrical power and convert it into AC power suitable for injection into the AC mains (or grid). The inverter is permanently connected to the grid or mains, and so is called a "grid-tied inverter". ("Grid-tied" and "grid-tie" mean exactly the same thing).

It is as easy as this: connect up our GTI-200 grid-tied inverter to any 200W power source between 32 and 54V AC or DC, and connect the invrter output to any mains AC outlet at your premises.

Bingo! You start to save money.

Only remember that your equipment needs to satisfy certain safety regulations whilst in operation ....
