On the loss of spouse -
The day of the funeral..
"You are young, you'll get married again"
"I know how you feel"
"I am going through a divorce, so I know how you feel" (I don't understand this one at all!)
On the loss of a teenager -
"At least you have other children"
"At least you had him longer than (other younger child) so/and/so did"
"Gee, I know what you feel like because I am getting a divorce" (??)
On the loss of a parent(s) - "Well, at least he (she) lived his (her) life expectancy!" (Donna)
As we age, it really doesn't seem as though we are aging, except for the aches and pains. Life goes way too fast! I do feel sorry for people who say things that do not come out the right way, there is no right way and later these people will feel bad for saying things that do "jar" us. I still feel bad for them for later.
