OBJECTIVE

I wish to combine my knowledge and skills as a filmmaker with my knowledge and skills as a skydiver to contribute to television and film productions of any budget. I hope to eventually obtain membership in the Screen Actors Guild as a stunt performer.

WORK HISTORY

I have worked as a film and video professional since 1997. My production résumé can be viewed at http://www.douva.com.

I was previously the owner of South Plains Film and Video, a film and video production company and equipment resale house in Lubbock, TX.

“Equipment Failure” (1998)

I performed the opening skydive, as well as the rock climbing fall, for this local commercial I produced for Express Car Care and Quaker State.

“Westex Skysports” (1999)

I did all of the free fall and ground-to-air cinematography for this local commercial I produced for Westex Sky Sports.

On July 29, 2000, I jumped a Korean War vintage parachute rig to promote the release of a new video by Tom Craighead, author of Skydivers: Flying With Their Pants On Fire!

Jumping this rig from the 1950's made me grateful for the improvements in modern skydiving gear. Video by Bill Scott.

I have performed demonstration jumps into an airshow, a backyard barbecue, a summer camp, the Johnson Space Center (NASA), and an upscale private party featuring guests ranging from TV celebrities to four star generals.

"The Plunge" (2003)

2004 Student Academy Award Winner
Short film
Directed by Todd Schulman
I served as the Skydiving Consultant on this short film produced by graduate students at the Florida State School of Motion Pictures, Television, and Recording Arts.

On the set with the cast of "The Plunge" - Left to Right: Catherine Mangan, Jack Barley, Will Bigham, W. Scott "Douva" Lewis, Stephen Siddell

Director of photography Jon Provan frames the shot as director Todd Schulman prepares actors Stephen Siddell and Will Bigham for a scene in which Will's character packs a parachute while Stephen's character explains his plan for proposing to his girlfriend in free fall.

Preparing and testing the hanging harness used to make the actors appear to dangling beneath a parachute.

On the set with Norman Kent.

My roll in the making of "The Plunge" is mentioned in this book about the making of the six hottest student films of 2004. CLICK HERE to read an excerpt.
