BIOGRAPHY (January 2005)

I was born on February 14, 1980. I have worked as a film and video professional since 1997. As stated in my résumé, I previously ran my own film and video production and equipment re-sale house (South Plains Film & Video) out of my home in Lubbock, TX. I started the business while I was in high school. As my business began to take more of my time, school began to get in the way. After my junior year, I dropped out of my regular high school and took the remainder of my courses by correspondence from Texas Tech University. I balanced running my business with finishing my courses, and I graduated at the same time I normally would have, with a 3.5 GPA and a 1310 SAT. My first paying jobs were corporate videos; I eventually progressed to doing local television commercials. Along with producing my own videos, I also worked on the crew of various smaller projects around Texas. In August of 2000, I terminated my business and moved to Austin, so I could dedicate my full attention to pursuing a career in feature films. Since moving to Austin, I have worked on a variety of projects. In March of 2001, I landed my first job on a feature film--I was hired to be the production assistant and equipment manager for the baseball department on Disney's The Rookie. Along with the regular duties of a production assistant, this job entailed acting as a liaison between the baseball department, the props department, the set dressing department, and the production department. I was responsible for all of the non-hero baseball equipment used both onscreen and in the off screen baseball practices. I was provided with a cargo van for transporting the equipment to and from set. I worked on The Rookie both on the set and in the production office for three months, earning my first theatrical screen credit. Since working on The Rookie, I have worked on television shows, music videos, short films, and reshoots for another feature film. I also spent some time writing short screenplays for independent filmmakers and working on a feature screenplay for an up-and-coming director in L.A. I spent three weeks in the spring of 2003 in Florida working on a short film as a "skydiving consultant." That film, "The Plunge," went on to win a Student Academy Award. Aside from screenwriting, I took most of 2004 off from film production to work on earning my skydiving instructor rating and to train for the 2004 National Skysurfing Championship. I am currently developing a screenplay based on the true story of Rob Harris, the number one rated Los Angeles club DJ who came out of nowhere to become the first American to win the World Skysurfing Championship and win the first X-Games skysurfing championship, before being killed performing a stunt for a Mountain Dew commercial.

To Whom It May Concern:

Please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Scott Lewis, and I would like to be considered for a position on your upcoming production. Depending on the size of your production, I am capable of functioning in a variety of capacities. If you are crewing up for a large production, then you should know that I have the two most important attributes for a production assistant--stamina and reliability. I also know the routine, the terminology, and the unwritten rules of the game. I am versatile, thriving in a variety of circumstances and environments, and I know how to think on my feet. Experience has taught me when to take the initiative and when to remain quiet.

I invite you to look over my résumé and check out my references. I want to thank you for taking time to read this letter, and I hope that you will consider me for a position on your crew.

Sincerely,

W. Scott Lewis
