top of Cherokee dress
This photo shows a Cherokee dress in progress. The Cherokee dresses are made with at least seven (7) yards of material and as most of the pieces are torn, not cut, in the traditional way. Hence the name, Cherokee "tear" dress.
bottom of Cherokee dress
This photo shows the bottom of a Cherokee dress. The bottom attaches to the top with a waistband between the bodice and the skirt. The bodice and the skirt are generously gathered to the waistband.
