Brief synopsis' of the most popular classical music by Antonio Vivaldi Italian, Venice 4 MAR 1678 ~ Vienna, 28 JUL 1741 Operas, Serenatas, Oratorios, Concertos and Sinfonias Vivaldi Concerto for flute #3 op 10Keyboard artist Igor Kipnes writes about one of the most prolific composers of Baroque music, Italian Antonio Vivaldi. He wrote many oratorios, operas and several hundred instrumental pieces, most of them concertos for almost every instrument known at the time, the early 18th century. Kipnes notes, Vivaldi didn't write 400 concertos, but merely wrote one concerto 400 times. Vivaldi Concerto for Guitar in D Composed around 1723 for lute. It is the most popular of his works for that instrument. Today the guitar is substituted in concert performances. Vivaldi concerto for oboe and strings The F major concerto for oboe and strings was adapted from one of his bassoon concertos and dates from 1720. Vivaldi Concerto for Oboe, Strings and Harpsichord. Vivaldi wrote many concertos for viola, cello, flute, oboe, bassoon, mandolin as well as violin. Vivaldi 'Chamber Concerto in D' for recorder, oboe, violin and bassoon. Woodwind manufacturers made enormous strides during Vivaldi's time, 1678 - 1741. Previous wind instruments had many mechanical limitations, limited range, shrill or soft sounding and clumsy working parts. With improvements came more demand for repertoire. He wrote 84 concertos as well as 36 sonatas all published in Amsterdam between 1711 and 1729. Vivaldi Concerto for two Trumpets in C Italian baroque trumpet concerto usually played on modern orchestral C trumpets. Vivaldi was fully aware of the possiblities the instrument could have on in the concerto form. The work is filled with brilliant runs and fanfarelike sections. Vivaldi 'Four Seasons' Scored as four violin concertos. Vivaldi Guitar Concerto in A Adapted from his Trio in C, for lute, violin and continuo, it dates from around 1725. Vivaldi 'Concerto for Two Horns and Strings in F' Vivaldi was born around 1680 and spent much of his life in Venice, until there was a change in the musical style of the mid-19th century which eclipsed his talents. He died in Vienna, forgotten. He wrote over 400 concertos. Vivaldi 'Four Seasons' See Concerto Grosso, Op 8 No 1-4 Vivaldi 'La Caccia' Concerto in B-flat, Op 8 No 10 for Violin, Strings and Harpsichord The Hunt, from a series of 12 works in Opus 8 known as (EEL CHEMENTO DEL ArmoNEEah EE DEL INVENZIONE) published in Amsterdam in December 1725. The series marked the height of Vivaldi's popularity.
