  1. Barber Adagio for Strings
    Written in 1936 as part of his first string quartet. The orchestral version was FP by the NBC Sym Orch under Arturo Toscanini in November of 1938.

  2. Barber, Samuel Capricorn Concerto
    Barber born in West Chester, PA 1910 d- 1981. Composed in 1944. FP October 8, 1944 by Seidenburg Little Sym Orch.. Named after a house he lived in at Mt. Kisco NY.

  3. Barber Commando March
    Samuel Barber was attached to an Army Air Corps Band unit in 1943. During this period he composed a piece he dedicated to the new soldier called The Commando.

  14. Barber Medea
    Samuel Barber wrote Medea as a ballet for Martha Graham. Neither conceived their ballet as a literal interpretation of the mythical greek tragedy, the Medea-Jason legend of jealousy and revenge, but as psycological states of those acts.

  15. Barber Overture to The School for Scandal
    His opus 5, composed in 1931, in Italy while visiting composer Gian Carlo Menotti. FP at the Philadelphia Orchestra "Pops" summer concert at Robin Hood Dell in 1933. The first piece to be publicly performed of Barber.

  16. Barber Toccata Festiva
