Relative powers of playing pieces:
Opening Moves:
It is possible to position a given playing piece to eliminate an opponents piece
(of different type) without that opponent's piece being able to eliminate your piece.
Of course, you must consider the location of other opponent's other pieces otherwise you
could lose your piece.
Place your pieces in positions to take advantage of the bonus squares. There are a
number of squares where a given piece can reach more than one bonus square.
Try to avoid being the first player to lose multiple playing pieces. It is sometimes very
difficult to recover.
Try not to lose all of your Battleships, all of your Submarines, or all or your Destroyers.
Each type of piece has unique moves that can be used to your advantage when playing
the game.
Avoid placing your piece(s) on your forward bonus squares since your other pieces
cannot use that square for a bonus move. However, Submarines can be used to block
your opponent's Submarines. Also, your opponent receives one extra square move when
eliminating a piece, hence, your opponent's piece may not be able to
receive a bonus move from that square.
If your opponent's pieces are located such that he/she cannot use his/her forward bonus
square, then quickly move one of your pieces in position to receive a bonus from that
opponent's square.
Remember to use the ability of Submarines to change direction after reaching the game
border.
When your opponent has a small number of pieces left on the board, try to get one of your
Battleship(s) on the "center square".
If you find yourself well behind in the game, you may want to try some bold (risky) moves.
