JUDE DE ANGELO

CELEBRATING

33 YEARS IN HAPKIDO

JANUARY 2, 2008

JUDE'S HAPKIDO PAGE

THROUGHOUT MY 26 YEARS OF INSTRUCTING, MY STUDENTS THOUGHT THAT I WAS TEACHING THEM. ALL ALONG, THEY DID NOT REALIZE THAT THEY WERE TEACHING ME! IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL JOURNEY. I BECAME A BETTER INSTRUCTOR BY BEING OPENED ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO THEM. NOW MY NEW JOURNEY BEGINS. I HOPE TO REMEMBER THE LESSONS THAT THEY HAVE EACH TAUGHT ME.

THE INSTITUTE CLOSED ON APRIL 26,2008
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

HAPKIDO is a Korean Martial Art. This style is pronounced HAP - KEY - DOE - the Way (DO) to bring one's Power (KI) into Flowing Motion (HAP).

Hapkido (like Aikido) is based on the principle of the circle. The HAPKIDO PRINCIPLE - is to perform each action in a non-resistent, flowing and circular manner.

Hapkido teaches each student to develop: Focus (concentration), Form (how to do an action) and Power (placing one's mental, physical and emotional being into an action)

Our GOAL is to teach each student to internalize and use this principle in all life areas. This will help the student to become "one" with each action - both inside and outside the martial art school.

The continued practice of any martial art style will enable the student to develop a Soft (Respect and Courtsey) Outside and a Hard (Integrity, Wisdom, Perseverance, Self Control and Spirit) Inside .

MARTIAL ART INSTRUCTION

Our committment is to provide quality instruction at an affordable cost to the general public {Men, Women, Teens and Children}. Classes are especially beneficial for females, children and individuals with disabilities.

The goal of the Institute is to be able to provide instruction, especially for individuals who could not otherwise afford classes.

The Program offers instruction from White through advanced degrees of Black Belt. All of the traditional and technical aspects of the martial arts are taught.

Our GOAL is to continually strive to perfect skills and techniques: beginning through advanced punches, kicks, blocks, elbow strikes, hand skills and forms. This will enable each student to develop : coordination, balance, speed, physical stamina, concentration and self confidence.

The SELF DEFENSE SKILLS require minimal to no physical power to apply. The skills are easy to learn and remember. The proper execution of a skill {DO} requires the bring together of mental and physical energy {KI} into flowing motion {HAP} .

SELF DEFENSE APPLICATIONS will assist the student in learning how to respond quickly to an attacker.

A martial artist must always be ready to invent, devise and create new combinations and ideas and application of self defense skills to deal with any circumstance.

FORMS consist of a sequence of movements. As the student internalizes forms, self defense skills and applications will become more fluid (natural).

Rank Tests (NO FEE) all testing is individualized. A student is tested when the individual is ready to demonstrate skill mastery.

A Black Belt is awarded (No Fee) when the Black Belts believe that the student is ready to begin the journey for further knowledge.

A special thank you to Mark Jepsen - Zoot's Place Online Services for designing our Hapkido Banner.
