Who Am I? Who Am I? (1998)
Directed by: Jackie Chan & Benny Chan
starring: Jackie Chan, Michelle Ferre,
               Mira Yamamoto, Ron Smerczak.

Filmed partly in Africa, Jackie Chan's latest action hit has its fair share of superior stunt work against colourful settings. Filmed originally in English, the DVD has switchable English subtitles and the best (and true!) AC-3 sound of any HK DVD to date. A must-see for Jackie fans! Letterboxed at 2,35:1

Fong Sai Yuk (1993)
Directed by: Cory Yuen-Kwai
Martial-Arts Direction by Cory Yuen-Kwai, Yuen Tak
starring: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Josephine Siao,
                  Michelle Reis, Sibelle Hu.
With "Once Upon a Time in China II" and "Last Hero in China", this is one of Jet Li's best outings so far. He also produced this flawlessly crafted period wire-fu saga, also starring Josephine Siao Fong-Fong ("Summer Snow") in her comeback performance. Sequel "Fong Sai Yuk II" also available on DVD. Both are highlighted by brilliant martial-arts choreography second to none.

The Lovers The Lovers (1994)
Directed by: Tsui Hark
Screenplay by: Tsui Hark, Hui Sa-Long
starring: Charlie Yeung, Nicky Wu,
               Carrie Ng, Tsui Kam-Kong.

Spirited romantic comedy drama, a kind of Chinese "Romeo and Juliet", but with laughs! Considered by many critics to be Tsui Hark's best film. Outstanding performances by the young lovers, Charlie Yeung and Nicky Wu, splendid set design and beautiful widescreen photography further distinguish this big budget production. The DVD is correctly letterboxed in 2.35:1

Saviour of the Soul (1992)
Directed by: Cory Yuen-Kwai, David Lai, Jeff Lau
Screenplay by: Wong Kar-Wai
starring: Andy Lau, Anita Mui Yim-Fong,
                  Gloria Yip, Aaron Kwok.
Wild, fascinatingly surreal fantasy extravaganza, this truly spectacular film is hard to describe in words.  Great special effects, amazing stunt work, an off-beat script by art-house director Wong Kar-Wai ("Chungking Express") and self-parodic performances by Andy Lau and Anita Mui Yim-Fong make this a cornerstone of 90's Hong Kong fantasy films.
