We also wanted to share our love of antiques with you. My husband and I love to
go "antiquing" on weekends. We enjoy seeing all the things that bring back
memories. And sometimes just trying to figure out what that is? It's a lot of fun.
I'm thinking about taking pictures of some of the antiques we've bought and
don't know much about. Maybe other "antiquers" could help identify some of
these things. This will take awhile but I'll work on it. In the meantime, I would
like to share our collections and interests.
- Viking Glass Company, a/k/a New Martinsville Glass Company, Ashtrays. They
are the greatest looking ashtrays, unusual shapes and beautiful colored glass.
- Old stand mixers. My husband collects these, he has several. His favorites
seem to be made by Dormeyer. He also has a Magic Maid that's really old. He
uses them while cooking. He bakes great cakes!
- We also collect all types of old kitchen small appliances. We have an old
Sunbeam automatic Toaster. And a General Electric Toaster. An old FryRyte
Deep Fryer. An old General Electric Waffle Iron with white bakelite handles.
An Osterizer blender. Manning and Bowman Coffee Maker urn. West Bend
aluminum coffeepots. Everything works!
- I collect colored aluminum. I love my collection. I have been amazed at what's
available out there. Ashtrays, tumblers, sherbert dishes, spoons, pitchers. I
remember drinking from these tumblers when I was a little girl. I also have
the terry cloth sleeves that we slipped on the bottom of these tumblers, they
really would drip when you were drinking a cold drink.
- We also collect old radios and phonographs. We have a Victrola and two old
"entertainment" centers. Also several old radios, the tube type.
- Clocks, we love old clocks. Don't have a lot of them, but we're not dead yet!
- We have a wonderful old RCA TV. Great for watching I Love Lucy!
