2009 FCS Weekly Update

A lot of racing went on at Fiesta City Speedway Friday night. Along with the regular race program, there were 5 extra features that were made up from the previous week.

The next race night will be Friday, July 10th for the Govenor’s Ethanol Challenge for the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds.  Race night sponsors will be Minnesota Corn Growers, Granite Falls Energy, and Cenex of Montevideo & Granite Falls.  Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Races start at 7 p.m. Be aware that there will be NO Late Models. Cory Tammen & Justin Bjorklund Each Win 2 Features at Fiesta City Speedway (June 26, 2009)

Jordan Tollakson of Montevideo, passed Randy Bjerkeset of Clarkfield on lap 2 to get his 3rd Pure Stock feature win of the year. Bjerkeset was 2nd, Jesse Timm of Wood Lake 3rd, Ross Bjerkeset of Clarkfield 4th, and Jacob Huston of Benson 5th.

Ryan Buer of Willmar took the lead to start the WISSOTA Mod 4 make-up feature. Buer led until Justin Bjorklund of Renville took the lead on lap 7 took get his 5th straight win.  Jim Kanten of Milan was 2nd, Tom Silver of Glenwood 3rd, and Tyler & Dean Larson of Pennock 4th & 5th.

Bjorklund led the 2nd WISSOTA Mod 4 feature flag to flag to win his 6th feature in a row and 2nd of the night.  Tyler Larson was 2nd, Silver 3rd, Kanten 4th and Buer 5th.

Tim Rhode of Granite Falls and Mike Jans of Clarkfield battled side by side to start the WISSOTA Street Stock make-up feature.  On the second lap, Jans took over the top spot and took the win. Kelly Timm of Hanley Falls was 2nd, Ben Albertson of Clarkfield 3rd, Travis Berends of Montevideo 4th, and Justin Tammen of Clara City 5th.

Kelly Timm led the 2nd WISSOTA Street Stock feature flag to flag for his 4th win of the season.  Jans finished 2nd, Jordan Tollakson of Montevideo 3rd, Berends 4th, and Albertson 5th.

Cory Tammen of Clara City led the WISSOTA Super Stock make-up feature after lap one and got his 3rd win of the season.  Jeremy Jerve of Montevideo came in 2nd, Jeff Flaten of Hancock 3rd, Steve Beach of New London 4th, and Zach Schultz of Grove City 5th.

Tammen and Schultz battled side by side on the first lap of the 2nd WISSOTA Super Stock feature.  Tammen would take over on lap 2 and win his 4th feature of the season and 2nd of the night.  Schultz finished 2nd, Steve Weber of Big Stone City, SD 3rd, Mike Jans of Clarkfield 4th, and Bob Holtquist of Milbank, SD 5th.

Troy Berends of Montevideo, took the lead at the beginning of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified make-up feature.  Matt Suckow of Holloway took the lead from Berends on lap 10 and got his 2nd win of the season.  Berends was 2nd, Dominick Gregoire of Cottonwood 3rd, Brandon Nelson of New London 4th and Tyler Limoges of Redwood Falls 5th.

Marshall Tofte of Madison, jumped to the lead to start the 2nd WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature.  Tofte led flag to flag but had to hold off Ryan Bjerkeset of Clarkfield toward the end of the race.  It was Tofte’s 2nd win of the year.  Gregoire was 2nd, Bjerkeset 3rd, Brian Haben of Holloway 4th, and Limoges 5th.

Dustin Virkus of Clarkfield led the WISSOTA Late Model make-up feature flag to flag to get his 1st win of the season.  Corey Nelson of Canby finished in 2nd, Chuck Kelly of Willmar 3rd, Ardy Eilers of Canby 4th, and Rick Schroeder of Montevideo 5th.

In the 2nd WISSOTA Late Model feature, it was Schroeder’s turn to lead the race flag to flag and win 2nd feature of the year. Nelson was 2nd, Kelly 3rd, Brian Schultz of Montevideo 4th, and Eilers 5th.
