RINDPORKER'S JOE LAIR
I recieved my first "Joe" for Christmas of
1966. It was a very good year. My brother and I each
got one G.I. Joe Action Soldier. Mine had black
hair...I believe Bob's was blond. We also got an
assortment of "equipment sets". The helmet set,
M-1,backpack bivouac,sleeping bag,30 cal. the works!
To top it off...my grandfather had handcrafted us
each a storage cabinet about 2 1/2 ft. tall...with
plenty of storage space for "Joe" and all his stuff.
There was even a rod going across the bottom for
"Joe" to hang his uniforms on to keep them sharp
(these were supplied with miniature coat hangers, the
type that socks used to come on) the whole deal was
painted olive drab and came with a matching bunk that
grandad had made from scratch, mom had made us
pillows, matteresses, and sheets for our custom beds.
What a Christmas this was! The beginning of a
lifelong friendship. (I still use the cabinets today)
Be sure to visit "The Daily Squeal" posting board and
let's talk 'Joe". Feel free to place ads for sale and
trade...we can discuss just about anything...just
remember this is a FAMILY site.
