Jagdgeschwader JG7

Hallo, Alles Flieger!

Welcome to our small corner of the World.

Our (virtual) squadron is modelled after the famous JG7 headed by Kdo.Walter Nowotny in 1944.

We are dedicated to proving ourselves as the 'elite' of Luftwaffe pilots - through strict training, rank discipline and a determination to clear the sky of all enemy aircraft - with our new 'jet fighters'....

One day Nowotny said to me:

“Quax, we are going to get a very new aircraft, a jet fighter.
" I later made my first flight in the Me 262 in June 1944, still with my legs in plaster... This first flight gave me a wonderful feeling of effortless speed and power..."

(Leutnant Karl “Quax” Schnörrer JG 54, JG 7)

It is interesting that those few words even today signify the World's introduction in to the Jet Age (check out our Me262 History Link) and continue reading.......

If you think you have what it takes to become an Me262 Flieger with JG7, and can demonstrate agility and control of this aircraft - and can take orders - then we would like to hear from you!

Flying with us will take you to areas of the 'CFS landscape' that you would normally never find flying on your own. You will be asked to download specific sceneries (I will help you configure them!) and also 'GameVoice' Chat Software (www.gamevoice.com) We typically plan to be airborne at least 1 or 2 hours each Sunday morning!

JG7 (virtual) now has two groups Stab.1/JG7 is 'Staff' flight and III/JG7 is the operational wing.

We meet usually by pre-arrangement on Sundays (sometimes in Microsoft Zone Play Area - 'Sturmgruppe Rooms' or more frequently 'DIRECT IP PLAY'.

Please note we have specific missions and usually fly the Me262 Aircraft... we dont want UFO's or Jap planes in a European Theatre!!!

(Note: Our CFS Zone Flying has temporarily been suspended)

"Sound Barrier"

.......Dittmar knocked on the doors of the soundbarrier "riding" an ME163 Komet.....

1004 km/h above Peenemuende. The conclusions of these test series are rather unknown since all files were confiscated by the allied forces in 1945.

A couple of weeks ago some construction files were found at Daimler/Chrisler Corp. in Munich. They indicate that an ME163 had been designed for a speed of even 1090km/h.!!

On April 9, 1945, the testpilot Hans Goido Mutke (Privat, 24 yrs.), during training with the Luftwaffe, climbed a regular ME262. After reaching 11.000m he recognized a Kamerad who was in trouble with a British Spitfire.

After a full-speed dive at 40 degrees.... his bird seemed to get fist-punched. "It rattled and banged, I crashed my head on the cockpit glass" he recalls -losing control of the flight control surfaces momentarily he eventually managed to level out and returned to the airfield.

(His Kamerad meanwhile had managed to shoot down the Spit.) "The Messerschmidt was definately supersonic for about 7 sec." ,he claims. "It was just like being hit over the head with 'Thor's Hammer'

According to Dr.Otto Wagner, professor of aviation mechanics at the Technical University in Munich, the ME262 was generally certainly capable of supersonic speed!

The archives of the "Wright-Patterson Field" in Dayton (Ohio)USA, have an old Me262 Handbook, On page 13 it says thats .... "at a soft dive of 20-30 degrees" the ME262 reaches a speed of 950 km/h. ", At around 1.000 km/h controls fail". "

Prof.Karl Dötsch (age 90 years) a former employee of the German Aviation Research Institute in Berlin-Adlershof adds that in 1944 he was called into a secret project. He started research on mysterious incidents of the 262 - loss of stability and flight control - which, during a subsequent test-flight he caused his 262 to duplicate the loss of controls while buffeting.

At Mach 0.85 the wings started vibrating and flapping, the flightstick became immoveable and only with a pressure of 70 Kp the plane could be levelled out.

So, who is it? Who went supersonic first? 24 year old Privat Hans Giodo Mutke, (1945) in a desperate attempt to help his partner?..... or was it Col Pete Everest in his YF-100 (Super Sabre) at Edwards AFB (1953) ?
