Involvement In Our Community

Post 201:
In past years, the second Tuesday of every month, our local American Legion Post invites our Color Guard to present the colors at thier meetings. They have also had our Drill Team and Ranger Team perform for them. They support our program in many ways that include providing our entire school with flags for the homerooms. They make several apperances at our school in regards to events that we hold. At our Awards Banquet they arrive to hand out several different awards. They have also made an apperance at our Veteran's Day ceremonies. We are very honoored to have them attend our functions and owe alot to thier gratitude.

AIDS WALK:
This year we are hoping to have all of our corps of cadets involved in the annual AIDS WALK that Atlanta hosts every year. It is to be held on October 19th, 1997 on a Sunday. It consists of a 10 kilometer (6.3 miles) walk. The money goes to AIDS organizations for funding patient activities and education. There is no entry fee and our cadets will be accepting pledges from family and friends. We hope to make a good apperance and have the chance to help out the AIDS patients.

Veteran's Day:
During this national holiday, our JROTC program salutes our veteran's by holding a flag raising ceremony for our shcool and honored veterans. At 11:11 on November 11th, our Honor Guard raises the flag and then lowers it to half staff for mourning. We were also featured on Channel 2 for our ceremony.
