First Stitches, Part 1

Chain Stitch
Chain stitch (Ch) begin by making a slip knot or tying a thread around needle; draw thread through loop, draw another thread through second loop, continue until chain is of length desired.

Slip Crochet or Slip Stitch
Slip crochet or slip stitch (Sl C or Sl St) mostly used in this book to join rounds or different parts in the work. Insert hook into work (indicated in directions) draw thread through work and loop on needle at the same time.

Single Crochet
Single crochet (Sg C) insert hook in work, draw thread through, having two loops on needle, draw thread through both loops.

Double Crochet
Double Crochet (DC) pass thread around hook, insert hook in work, draw thread through work (having 3 loops on needle) pass thread around needle and pull through 2 loops, thread around needle again, pull through last 2.

Treble Crochet
Treble crochet (Tr C) pass thread around hook twice, insert hook into work, pull thread through, thread over needle pull through 2, thread over pull through 2 again, thread over needle and pull through the last 2 loops.
