So Many Horses,
You'll Get Manure on Your Boots!

NEW!!!! We have added a new stallion to our buckskin stallion battery.

SONNY'S BRANDY-an own son of SONNY DEE BAR-15.2 DUN He has an AQHA ROM in Western Pleasure and Halter Points. He is a proven producer of 3 AQHA ROM Western Pleasure and Halter point earners. We will ship cooled semen. $500 stud fee. Call or e-mail and reserve your 1999 breeding today.

Sonny's Brandy was bred by J.D. Taylor. J.D. bred his mares to Sonny Dee Bar when he stood at Dean Lander's in Iowa. J.D. practiced what we preach. Why own a stallion of your own when you can breed to a great stallion and not have to maintain a stallion year-around? Our business is owning and standing some of the best buckskin stallions in the nation so you won't have to. It is hard to afford a top quality stallion of your own and if you settle on breeding to a low quality stallion the offspring won't be worth as much. Sonny's Brandy's offspring will have Sonny Dee Bar on their papers and by a proven show winner and producer. Your mares are worth breeding to the best!

We stand Double Sun Bar-1977, dun, world champion producer of halter and performance point earners. He is by the 1976 AQHA world champion aged halter stallion Son of Sun by Eternal Sun Bars(AQHA CH.) by Eternal Sun (AQHA CH.) His dam is a grand-daughter of Double Bid. No Impressive bloodlines.Leased out for private breeding.

READ "BUCKSKIN QUARTER HORSE REVIEW" by Lu Ann Briscoe http://www.dallypost.com

We believe that the buckskin quarter horse has the added advantage of remaining a quarter horse and a color breed. Every foal will be a marketable quarterhorse no matter what color it may be.

I get many questions about buckskin colors. My thumbnail explanation is :

Buckskin is the umbrella name of the color group. The variations of buckskin include, buttermilk buckskin (no dorsal stripe), dun (buttermilk, brown or red with dorsal stripe), or grullo. The true or buttermilk buckskin with no dorsal stripe has a heterozygous Crcr gene that produces a 25% chance of cremello or perlino crcr with another heterozygous Crcr horse. The dun horse is heterozygous Dd or homozygous DD for the dun gene. This boils down to the fact that it would take several generations to figure out if you had a homozygous horse and many offspring to prove it. The more we breed for color the better the odds to get a homozygous horse, but foremost above color we need to breed to the best bloodlines and conformation to get the best quarter horses that happen to be buckskins.

Buckskin success stories accomplished in 1997-A 1993 stallion Chromatic Poco King, we bred and raised him sold for $12,000 at Triangle Sale in Shawnee, OK-we congratulate the seller! Chrome's filly from his first colt crop placed 5th in the Kansas Buckskin Futurity too. Double Sun Bar's 1997 son was reserve champion in the Kansas Buckskin Futurity-congratulations to the mare owner! A Double Sun Bar daughter placed in 3 futurities in 1997-congratulations to the mare owner! We enjoy selling and breeding winners.

We are changing our operation to offer stallion service from the best proven buckskin quarter horse sires in the nation. We will not own many broodmares- instead other mare owners will have the opportunity to raise offspring from our stallions.

We hope that the Briscoe's Buckskin name will be synonymous with the best buckskin quarter horses in the country and mare owners will look to our BUCKSKIN STALLION BATTERY for their next champion.

We buy, sell, and trade. WANTED- A Blue Grullo Stallion (no Impressive Blood). Must have proven parents, proven offspring, or proven himself point earners in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA. Please e-mail us information.

We would like to expand our shipped semen business in 1999. We have had an excellent 1998 breeding season, but most of our service is live cover to people within 300 miles. We would like to receive mare owner input to tell us how to make shipped semen more convenient and explain the value that breeding to superior stallions can give mare owners in the buckskin quarter horse market. We are your next door neighbor with shipped semen from our buckskin stallions. ame as shown:   qhring.gif
