25-Years Experience With Over 1600 Fisher Tube Components Restored All Tube Models Welcome. X Upgrades available for the 400 Receiver and 100 series integrated amps.
Who is this guy and why should I trust him with my Fisher? I tend to have a small queue of sent in Fisher restoration projects lined up at all times. Final test listening to one while I'm restoring another. I work full time restoring Fisher tube gear. Email to discuss restoring a Fisher you already own or are thinking about buying on eBay. All sent in Fishers require a paid up front $49 repair estimate/US return shipping fee. A $49 (or more) check in the box is welcome. Complete Fisher 400 Restorations Start at $350 + $49. 500-B-C or 800-B-C receiver models start at $400 + $49. 100 series Integrated amps start at $300 + $49, 200 series integrated amps start at $400 + $49. Consumable, large or unique parts (beyond the usual mound of included high grade always changed parts) will cost extra: tubes, transformers, knobs, controls, Fisher exclusive parts needs will be added to the repair estimate. Now approaching official antique status at 50-years, Fisher stereo gear requires a lot more under chassis work to do the job right. A heaping handful of parts that includes every known weak stale small under chassis device (selenium bias bridge, coupling caps, small electrolytic caps etc.) will be replaced including ALL the large power supply high voltage and bias supply filter can capacitors, old filter cans remain on top only for show. No capacitor replacement PC boards, all new caps are quality high temp types that are point to point installed in original design locations to make service down the road easy for the next generation. Numerous time proven and widely copied 1990's Paul Grzybek (PG) invented proprietary under chassis circuitry updates are installed including: A soft start current inrush limiter to drastically extend component life. My 1990's idea, thank you. A 15-turn under chassis technician bias adjustment to precisely set the output tube bias. also my idea, thanks. High quality double sealed German-Japanese blue box original material excellent sounding Mylar coupling caps are installed (not the raspy brittle sounding polypropylene most others use). Original knobs are cleaned, brass end caps are replaced as a complete set (if needed) with (PG) exclusive new US factory made replacement types. The tuning dial lamps are replaced with easy on the eyes soft glow types. Dial glass and faceplate carefully cleaned. Dial pointer is carefully aligned. All tubes are tested on a precisely calibrated dynamic transconductance tester. Weak testing tubes will be replaced for very reasonable prices. Output tubes must be replaced as a match quad, most restoration need a fresh quad of output tubes to do the job right, Fisher 400 receivers use 4 new proven excellent matched EH brand 7868 outputs, +$125. The FM Stereo Tuner is skillfully spectrum analyzer sweep aligned using one of the most precise pieces of digital equipment for this purpose: a $25,000(new) Motorola Communications Analyzer. Station Sensitivity, Selectivity and Stereo MPX separation are perfectly aligned for crystal clear reception. FM deemphasis will be checked for accuracy. The chassis, tube sockets and switches are cleaned, all RCA inputs and speaker wire screws are polished to shine and function good as new. (PG) exclusive gold 5-way speaker post adapters are included (or can buy a set for $35) - they attach with original speaker screws, then use fingers to connect speaker wires or banana plugs. If your Fisher needs a new volume control (indicated by uneven channel volume at various levels) I will install a brand new (PG) exclusive custom made precision volume control with rotary on/off switch for $95. A proper expert restoration will make your Fisher sound brand new while maintaining the original untouched external appearance. Holes can Not be drilled, visible original parts must remain intact, limited external changes with proper internal restoration using high quality prove best sounding parts will keep your Fisher on the ever increasing value trail. 50-years old, looks original and performs like brand new. This is my Fisher restoration philosophy.
