Planning and Budget

For the watergarden to be successful, there must be intense planning. Since you will be building a self-contained ecosystem, air, light, water, and inhabitants are a must. Everything needs to be in balance or sync. To be able to achieve this your region's climate, altititude, amount of sunlight, plants, fish and other creatures will determine most of your garden. Your pond is part of nature so it must blend harmoniously with its environment.

BUDGET

Watergardens costs vary widely. You can spend as little as $100 to as much as the $1000's. There are two main types of water gardens: above-ground and in-ground. In-ground, watergardens of any size are sunk into the earth using liner or cement. Above ground watergardens can range from a large pot to pre-fabbed devices you can purchase. So as you can see there is something to meet everyone's needs. There are several kits available from many companies that come complete with everything you would need. Please remember to sit down before you begin and figure out how much everything will cost. This will help eliminate many decisions that will need to be made later. Remember to include in the cost: filters, pumps, electricity, plants and fish. Once you have gotten it all jotted down. STICK to your plan. If by now you are still interested in having a garden pond.
