PROPERTIES: The Artichoke is a plant that florisches in summer in deep, fertile soils, areas where the rainfall is regular and the temperatures are pleasant. The Artichoke has a stem 1,5 m high, being erect and a little bit brauchy. It displays big lobed and thoruy leagues like a rosette where emerge the violaceous blue tone chapter. The Artichoke belongs to the composed families and it has bitter and aromatic substances, crys totolline, cinaryera, taunin, quinosin, inulin, mineral salts (with predominance of iron and potassium), organic acids and vitamins like A, B and D. Because it's rich composition, since the Antiquity, are noted diverse properties or hepatic and renal levels. Revels it self like a good general drainer, that doesn't change the balace of sodium and potassium. It has a hypogliceniant action, i e, the sugar level of diabetic urines decreases acting as well on liver (hepatopnotectress function) and helps on bile secretions (choleretic activity). To this particularityes is still associated the hypocholesterolemiant property important in arteriosclerotic cases and preliminary situations, being remarkable as auxiliary in elimination of the cholesterol levels. Because it 's richness in iron is recomended in anaemic cases. Actually, the Artichoke is one of the most famous conquests of phytotherapy.

INDICATIONS: The Artichoke is advised in cholesterol excess hepatic, vesicular and renal disturbances, that are frenquently expressed in digestive abnormalities. It is recomended in anemic, arteriosclerosis, cellulitis, cholesterol and diabetes cases. It is equally usefull in skin diseases, rheumatism, in the prevention of calculus formation and as auxiliary in their removal.
