Now Playing: The new CD: My Shining Hour
Topic: Angela De Niro
Angela is a native New Yorker, whose influences were Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Carmen Mc Rae, has a new release on the Consolidated Artists label, entitled My Shining Hour. On this just released CD, Angela pays tribute to legendary saxophonist Phil Woods with a Ron Aprea composition entitled For Phil. Angela scats, swings, and sings a ballad with the passion and interpretation of Nancy Wilson, and her diction is second to none. This is Angela's third album. Tenor saxophonists Frank Foster and Lew Tabackin, and legendary vibraphonist Lionel Hampton, joined Angela and Ron Aprea's big band for her last album entitled Swingin' With Legends. Angela De Niro is the only vocalist ever to record Midnight Sun with it's composer, Lionel Hampton. Ms. De Niro can also be heard scatting on Mark Murphy's album Links. Additional biographical information, soundbytes, and a video clip are on Angela's website. www.angeladeniro.com
