4/10/99 VS Chicago Meeting Notes

Dave, Mary, Ross, Jill, Mark, T, Elizabeth, Louella, Joel, JR and Mike, welcomed Jeannie, Rob, and Linda their first meeting. Mike and Joel began Session 1 (of 2), of the YMOYL Audio Tape portion of the meeting at 08:40. No simplicity topics were posted by the group. The reminder of the meeting then focused on YMOYL Session 1.
Joel began with a reading from page 1 of the YMOYL Audio Cassette Workbook, "A Personal Letter From Joseph R. Dominguez, the Creator the This Course". Everyone took a turn at reading a paragraph from this four page introduction. Following, the group individually worked page 1-1, "Side 1 -- Preview", of the workbook. Mike began audio tape, Side 1.
The group listened, and reviewed the appropriate pages in the workbook when indicated. Upon completion of Side 1, we completed page 1-5, "Side 1 - Review" (in about 5-minutes), and then took a 5-minute stretch break.
When we returned, we began working page 2-1, "Side 2 - Preview" (for 5-minutes). Mike then began audio tape, Side 2. We continued the above process for the first six sides of the Audio Cassette Course, thus completing the first half of the Course by 12:50.
We then held a brief period of open space, to discuss insights, observations, and thoughts. The group concluded, doing the Course in two, 4-hour segments, appears to be a good approach. Also, the audio tapes bring animation and a new dimension to the book, Your Money Or Your Life. We discussed insights of Purpose, the difference between HAVE-DO-BE (our current paradigm) and BE-DO-HAVE (the new paradigm as Joe discussed on Side 3), and "tunnel #4" (Side 2).
We adjourned the discussion and meeting at 13:15. Session 2, on May 8th, will again begin at 08:30.
