OPEN THE WINDOW.. SHUT THE DOOR
By Robert Michael O'Hearn

Open the window.. Shut the door behind you.
Reconcile yourself to having a strange dream.
The window sill's profusely bleeding its paint,
having died from inactivity below Levolor blinds.

The door's welcome mat desires just a visitor,
even if a stranger so intent on being a lover
walking through the door, closing the door on the past
then closing the window before we both catch a chill.
