C. Trouble Shooting:
If you have problems installing or running "The
Dr. Fluency® Computerized
Stuttering Treatment Program Demo", we suggest that
you consider the following suggestions.
I. You tried to install the program
according to instructions, but the setup failed?
Suggestions: The Dr. Fluency®
Demo requires at least 8 Mega of free space on your
hard disk and a properly installed Sound Blaster voice
card, or compatible.
- Be sure that you have at least 8 Mega of free
space on your Hard Disk.
- Make sure that you have a Sound Blaster, or Sound
Blaster compatible voice card installed.
If you do, make sure that it was installed BEFORE you
ran the Dr. Fluency SETUP.
If it was, check to see if the voice card is was properly
installed.
Dr. Fluency can't be installed and run without a properly
pre-installed Sound Blaster, or compatible, voice card.
II. The installation was successful, but you can't
load the program, or the program shuts down in the middle
of use.
There could be several reasons for this.
- The Dr. Fluency® Demo
will work properly only if you run Windows in the
386 ENHANCED MODE.
Check to see if you are in 386 ENHANCED MODE. If
not, make the necessary adjustments.
- Confirm that your computer has at least 4 RAM.
- Running other large programs simultaneously with
The Dr. Fluency® Demo
can cause a lack of free memory, which can be a
cause of these problems.
Make sure that you have closed all other programs on
your computer.
III. The Dr. Fluency®
Demo works, but it works very slowly. What
should you do?
- First, be sure that your PC is at least a 386 DX
x 40 megahertz.
If it is lower than this, the program will always
run slowly.
- The Dr. Fluency® Demo
requires a Windows with a permanent SWAP file
with a setting of at least 8 MB.
You may have set less than 8 MB. Correct this and
reload the program.
IV. Instead of lively and finely color coordinated
graphics on your screen, you get only dull and sometimes
strangely colored graphics with a very limited range of
colors.
Suggestion: Dr. Fluency®
programs are designed to run of SuperVGA screens.
- Be sure that you screen is SuperVGA.
- If it is, make sure that it has been properly
installed.
