Shape Memory AlloyShape memory Alloy is one that 'remembers' the shape it should be having when heated to a certain temperature. When cold, the SMA has low yield stress and modulus of elasticity that allow applying easy permanent deformations that are restored when the alloy is heated to a temperature where it regains high modulus of elasticity and yield stress.
