Despite everything that you may hear and read in the media, the PLO remains a terrorist organization that wants Israeli destruction and not a government, something which Abu Iyad admitted in his autobiography. In the last two and a half decades, the PLO has cleverly disguised terrorist acts by making the media believe that Hamas, Hezbollah, Black September and other groups are not a part of the PLO. The PLO even made the world look the other way when Popular Front of Liberation of Palestine, a group that is officially a part of the PLO, terrorized Israel. Yasser Arafat has successful hidden his family's collaboration with Nazis during the Holocaust, his homosexuality, and many other things. In reality he is a terrorist and appeasing him is a big mistake.
"The problem with appeasement is that it does not work," wrote Charles Krauthammer. Added Brooklyn College International Politics professor Rajagopalan: "Appeasement was considered a legitimate option before the Munich agreement in 1937. . . Right now we laugh at such thinking."
Yes, there have been terrorists who went on to become legitimate leaders. But how many of them collaborated with Fascists? How many of them admitted that peace negotiations are a part of their plan to destroy their enemy, as Abu Iyad did in a Kuweiti newspaper on December 18, 1988 when he said, "at first (we seek) a small state, and with Allah's help, it will be made larger and expand to the east, west, north, and south . . . I am interested in the liberation of Palestine step-by-step." (Yasser Arafat made a very similar statement in late 1970's). It is as clear as day that the PLO views the so-called peace talks with Israel as the first stage in their quest to occupy the land that is now known as Israel.
