Fee Structure

Non-Member Fees

To fence at the Academy as a non-member, you must be an experienced fencer with a USFA membership. If there is any question if you meet these requirements, please call (619-584-2478).

Class Instruction Fees

Classes are specifically designed for beginners and fencers returning after a hiatus. The class instruction fees covers:

• 24 calendar weeks of group instruction (students may participate in sabre or epee classes after 8 weeks of initial instruction in foil).
• Basic fencing equipment (mask, glove, jacket and foil) for the first 8 weeks; equipment may be rented at posted rates after that period.

Cabrillo Academy of the Sword members who have not paid an instruction fee may not participate in group classes.

Membership Fees

To become a member of the Academy you must also join the USFA. This assures us that you ate covered by their accident insurance. There are several categories of USFA membership, the basic dues being $20 per year. You will also receive their quarterly magazine American Fencing and their newsletter.

Spot Lessons: Spot lessons are available for members for $15 per lesson.
