What the Academy Offers
San Diego's Premier Fencing Location By "premier" we mean that we have a high quality
fencing facilities and coaching staff, and are located in a charming
neighborhood. Our facility has four fencing strips, three of which
are permanently equipped with overhead reels for electrical fencing.
One of the three strips has a three-weapon box, which allows our
sabre fencers ample practice time with electrical equipment.
Internationally Accredited Instructors Maestro Hurst and Monitor Rosario give group and private lessons
six days a week. For more details on their background, click here.
Beginner's Classes Beginning classes are taught three days a week. For class
schedule information, click here.
Private Lessons Both coaches give private instructions, covering all three
competitive weapons. Maestro Hurst also teaches theatrical fencing.

Equipment Store Our "Pro Shop" stocks a variety of spare parts and
displays an extensive range of fencing equipment for order. We
are the San Diego point-of-sale for one of the biggest and best
suppliers of fencing equipment in the United States.
Instruction in Theatrical Swordplay Maestro Hurst studied in Hollywood, CA, with Maestro Ralph
Faulkner, one of the "Big Three" fight directors of
Hollywood's golden age of swashbucklers. Maestro Hurst created
and taught an accredited course in stage fencing at Stanford University.
He himself has choreographed a variety of theatrical sword duels,
such as broadswords for King Lear, rapiers for Twelfth
Night, small swords for Dangerous Liaisons, and modern
epees for the TV series Silk Stalkings.
