| Tips & Tricks Before Heading To The ICQ Chat Arena |
| 1) |
You need ICQ before attempting chat...get
it here: http://www.mirabilis.com (It's free!) AOL,
on the other hand, is optional. |
| 2) |
Rules of SOCIAL chat: You will be kicked
for blindly defending AOL. They're guilty of neglect period. Yes, this means no snerts,
trollers, or those with a personality, emotional, or mental disorder. Mature crowds only,
or you must, be accompanied by "Mother." Conversely, you may not berate others
in the chat who *are* members of AOL...Okay, okay. You may *berate* them, but no
harassing. |
| 2a) |
Rules of ONE on ONE chat: State your
business or the topic of the chat when you initiate. If your topic is tech related make
sure you have read the FAQ. |
| 3) |
Ready to get a good browser yet? http://www.netscape.com (Netscape 3 is still the best
Navigator. Netscape 4 makes this site non-functional for one.) or http://www.microsoft.com (MSIE 5 is this editor's
favorite.) |
| 4) |
On AOL, try keyword
"Newsgroups" for a wealth of information for your own eyes... Particularly,
browse the internals. I don't highly recommend alt.aol-sucks, but if you must lurk---lurk
thoroughly, ignore the flamers. |
| 5) |
Hate AOL's 45 minute timer and 5 minute
IDLE message? Go here: http://www.inKlineGlobal.com
and get "Stay Connected!" (The software is great and they don't even pay me for
the link. Am I awesome or not?) |
| 6) |
Would you like to be added to the AOL ICQ
List and interact with others of your elite caliber? Tell Me. How about the email list? Now that's fun. |
| 7) |
