The Westside Toastmasters Club
is one of four Clubs in the Central Okanagan, but is the only one on
the west side of Okanagan Lake between Kelowna and Penticton. Members,
both male and female, range in age from early 20's to retired individuals.
Geographically, the members come from Peachland, Westbank, Westside and
even Kelowna.
Meetings are held every Wednesday evening from September through June. Meetings are held at Grace Lutheran Church (no affiliation) at Hudson Road and Highway 97 starting at 7:30 p.m. Toastmaster meetings are broken into two halves, the first half with a number of Club members participating and the second devoted to members working on speeches from either the Communication and Leadership Manual, or one of the various Advanced Manuals. Guests are welcome to attend meetings without obligation. CLUB PROGRAMSWestside Toastmasters annually conduct a Speechcraft program for the Peachland Ambassadorial candidates. This 8 week program is conducted with high school students and is culminated with a night of speech giving from all participants. Speechcraft is just one of the programs that these students undertake from May to September each year.In addition, members have been asked to speak at community functions, as well as at other organizations meetings, such as the Peachland Newcomers Club.
