MYSELF--I was born on the 29th August 1953, in Singapore. I got married when I was about 25 years old and blessed to have a supportive husband and three lovely daughters, Joesie, Joelin and Joeann, 24,19 and 16 respectively. I am a Breast Cancer Volunteer and a homemaker.

To me cancer had provided a sound wake-up call—a call that I’m happy to say, took place at age 43 rather than later. It has allowed me to implement the appropriate life changes. Before that, I’d never thought of helping others. The impact of having breast cancer seemed to have wakened me up. I begin to feel that living meaningfully was more important than living long. It was time to start looking at things in a new way. I was determined to figure out what else I could do to enhance the conventional cancer treatments and to fully recover physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually by changing various aspects of my lifestyle. I accepted for myself and looking for the best that conventional oncology therapy had to offer and complementing it with additional therapies.

As for me now each moment is the only moment I can do anything about. Each day is the only day I have. And I can choose how I will live each moment and each day. I would like to hear how you have allowed hope to grow and change. Our Life is in our Hands. LIVING FULLY EVERY DAY when we aren't on the top. Having learned to live with cancer and found hope and healing through reading poetry. Living a simple life is my next healing.

Medicine for My soul

YES, to become simple
and live simply,
not only within yourself but also in
your everyday dealings.
Don't make ripples all around you,
don't try so hard to be interesting,
keep your distance, be honest,
fight the desire to be thought
fascinating by the outside world.

I believe we would be
happier to have a personal revolution
in our individual lives and go back
to simpler living and more
direct thinking.
It is that make living worthwhile,
the sweet fundamental
things such as love and
duty, work and rest and
living close to nature.

The secret of contentment
is knowing how to enjoy
what you have,
and to be able to
lose all desire for
things beyond your reach.

Put more Smiles on my face by
disscovering more peaceful places.
Bring compassion and faith and courage to that place.

What Cancer Has Done For Me

Cancer has brought me to the realization that life is so short, you shouldn't wait when you feel something is right, and you should try everyday to be a person that you can be proud of.
Material things don't mean anything; what matters is the love of family and friends.
It introduced me to myself.
Teach me to give love more.
It gives me Hope.
Introduced more new friends
and appreciate them.
Learn to have positive mind,
Laugh more.
Give me more courage and understanding.
It bring love, light, happy and faith.

Cancer gives me time to say goodbye, time to adjust to the inevitable. Like it's a blessing.
