Tools for First Time Student Teachers
My name is Beth Santoro and I am a student at New England College. I have received my Bachelors degree in Education and I will begin student teaching in the fall.
Throughout my education at New England College, I was involved in lesson planning and worked hard to build up an array of references in order to guide me throughout my practica and student teaching.
My e-mail address can be found at the bottom of this page, if you have any questions or ways in which I can improve my website, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Here are some books I have found very useful:
- Yardsticks by Chip Wood : This book is a great reference designed to show you the typical characteristics of students at a particular age. It gives you the typical social behavior, fine motor ability, typical curriculum, their cognitive growth and more.
- Instruction for All Students by Paula Rutherford: This book is very beneficial as you shape your curriculum. It gives great ideas for lesson planning, ways to promote group discussions, active learning, ways to evaluate learning and more.
- Multiple Intelligence in the Classroom by Thomas Armstrong: This book explores the multiple intelligences and gives many ways in which to gear your teaching to meet the various needs of your students.
- These books can be found at Barnes & Noble.com, see page two for the link to the Barnes & Noble website.
