The leadership of the Orange Park band in unusual and highly respected.
Every section leader is provided with a leadership manuel with 3 sections. One for our weekly lessons for leadership meetings that are held every Wens from 2:45-3:45. The second section is used for personal growth, and the third is meant for how to make your section better.
Officers meetings are held at various points in the year by the Presidents descretion.
Requirements/obligations for office
President (Jennifer Buswell)
- Must be a Junior or Senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Will be responsible for the smooth operation of all band activities and rehearsals in the absence of the director.
- In conjunction with the director, will be responsible for seeing that all policies/procedures are followed at all times
- Will preside over band officer meetings
- Will attend all Band Association Meetings and report activities to the band
- The president must be a person of outstanding character and leadership
- Will meet the visiting band at all football games
Vice President (Annette Campos)
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Will assist in carrying out all responsibilites in the absence of the director and president
- Will assume charge of the organization in the absence of the Director and president
- Will be responsible for the operation of any other office in the event of the absence of that officer.
- Will meet the visiting band at all football games
Operations Officer (Alex Thompson)
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Will be responsible for the transportation, set-up, care, and maintenance of all band property
- Will be chairperson of all work committees
- Will be the third in line to assume charge of the organization
- Will be in charge of loading crews
- Will meet the visiting band at all football games
Secretary (Randi Sadler)
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Will attend all officer meetings and put a written report on the bulletin board
- Will act as secretary for the organization
- Will compile the senior wills at the end of the yar for the band banquet
- Will meet the visiting band at all football games
Historian (Bianca Altman)
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Will keep the scrapbook as a visible record for the band
- Will compile the senior pictures for presentation at the band banquet
- Will meet the visiting band at all football games
Spirit Captain (Nick Alers-Alers)
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Will be responsible for activities that will promote unity and enthusiasm in the band
Drum Major(s)(Linda Butler and Ryan Kennedy)
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Must receive intensive instruction in the area of drum majoring and leadership
- Must pass audition before the director and audition committee
- Will have the responsibility of leading the band in parades and all other marching events under the supervision of the director
- Will act as student conductor of the band during fall season during the fall season as director indicates.
- Will meet the visiting band at all football games
Student Conductor
- Must have lettered in band the previous year
- Must pass audition before the director
- Will be responsible for the smooth, efficient, rehearsing of the band in the absence of the director as necessary
Assistant operation, librarian, treasurer, or secretary
- Will be appointed by the director as necessary
- Will be responsible for the smooth operation of their designated area and answerable to the elected officers
Section Leaders
- Will aid the section in rehearsals and aid any individual with musical or marching problems
- Must attend leadership camp and be able to attend the Wens meetings
