Randa~

Can you believe it? We're in Spain! I'm sixteen and I'm traveling in Spain! Whoa, better calm down. Yeah, if you can't tell, I'm still hyper as hell. Rok won't let me drink Coke for dinner since I room with him....butthead. Anyways, what's life like? The last time we talked was like, a couple months ago. Dayum, seems longer! Got those braces off yet? Ha ha!! I don't know about the others, but I really appreciated you being there at our stuff whenever you could this past summer. We're almost done recording the first album!!! I'll send you a copy as soon as it's complete. I've got a solo on there too! It's called, ‘Let's Have a Party’. It's a dance song, something you'd like. There's so many adults around me. I feel like I'm growin' up already! How have the plays been goin'? Been workin' hard at 'em? Choir too? I know it's hard for you to keep in touch with me since you never know where we're gonna be next. I just wish I could get a letter from ya every once in a while. If I I gave ya an address though, chances are I'd be gone from the place by the time you sent it. If there's any way I can get ya to contact me, you'll be the first to know! Shit, Rok wants to hit the hay. I'd better go. Hate to cut this one short. Like I said, as soon as I hear something about a time when we can all meet up with ya, you'll be the first I contact.

Peace and Love,
Sparky

Miranda's eyes glanced over the letter again and again, thankful she had heard from Nick. He seemed to be the one that kept in touch the most. She'd hear something once in a while from Brian and AJ, but figured Nick wrote the most because of his age. Here he was, in a singing group at such a young age and practically no one his age to converse with. Granted, she was two years older, but seemed to click with him immediately the day she met them. Ever since the day in the auditorium at her school, she had counted herself lucky for meeting all five of them. They were kind, generous and hilarious as hell. She'd been to as many of their little concerts that she could get to after that meeting. It was almost as if she was a groupie. No, correct that, not a groupie at all. She was a friend. To her, they were five normal guys. After she heard them at her school though, she knew they'd go far. They harmonized like the angels in heaven. They would always be the guys she met though, famous or not. She just wished she could reach them somehow. Here they were, not even a huge success yet, and they were already out of her grasp.

Over the next couple of months, Miranda heard off and on from Nick. They'd released their first album and he'd even sent her a copy like he promised. They were doing small tours here and there, but she was never able to afford the plane ticket and she couldn't just up and leave her senior year of school. She hated it. These guys, though she hadn't seen them in quite some time, were her friends and here they were making it big. It ticked her off she couldn't witness it. It ticked her off even more she couldn't see Nick. He'd sent her magazines from overseas with articles in it. He only seemed to get better looking with time. He was no longer the short little guy she'd met in 1994. He was definitely her favorite of the group.

"Have to finish studying for the finals," she sighed, heading over to her books. She was stopped by the ringing of the phone. "Hello?"

"Yeah, is Miranda there?" The voice sounded like it was a million miles away.

"This is her."

"Hey Randa, need a spark in your life?" giggled the male voice.

"NICK? Oh my gosh! Where are you?"

Various giggles could be heard in the background. "Hey girl, it's been too long!"

"Nick, where are you?" She was smiling so big.

"Frankfurt, Germany! Guess what?"

"What?" she giggled.

"You're comin' to see us!"

Her mind drifted, almost sending her into a whirl. "Are you serious? Is this some joke?"

"No joke! You're even gonna have it all paid for!"

"Wait a sec though. You want me to fly by myself?"

Nick's face fell a bit. He never even once thought about that. "You've never flown before, have you?"

"Uh uh," she said in a worried tone.

He smiled slightly. "Is there anyone you wanna bring with you?"

"Well, there are a couple gals from my part-time job that know about you guys." She giggled a little. "I let them hear your CD."

"YES! Guys, she's gettin' us fans before we even get there!" She listened to his excited voice on the other end. "Well then, I guess we do owe ya a couple more tickets. How many you want?"

"Two more?" she replied sheepishly.

"Not a problem! Just give me the names and they'll be waitin' along with yours at the Indy airport. I'm thinkin' about flyin' you guys up here a couple of days before the show so we can have some time to hang out. It's been way too long since we've seen one of our first fans."

"Oh my gosh, I'm so excited!"

"Listen to you! Eighteen years old and actin' like a teeny bopper! Still got those braces?"

"Still got that bowl haircut?" she giggled.

"Hey! No crackin' on the hair," he said defensively, feeling around on the top of his head.

"What about the concert tickets?"

"They'll be waiting at the venue for ya. No need to worry about anything. We'll have it all worked out for ya. Plane tickets, concert tickets, hotel room...it'll all be done for ya!"

"Hot damn!" she exclaimed, listening to Nick laugh. "Give me a call back with all the details?"

"First ya gotta give me the names of the girls." "Katie Brack and Neenie Jenson. That covers women for Brian and Kevin."

"Huh? Wait, what about me?"

She grinned, not exactly knowing how to answer that one. She decided the friendly response would be better than the real one. "You're too young for women," she giggled.

"Ack! I'm hurt! You've hurt my pride!"

"Go whine a little more and give me a call back!" With a smirk she hung up, not being able to contain the excitement of seeing her long lost pals.
