As soon as Nick got through talking on the phone; he heard the quiet knocking at his door. "Huh?" He glanced at the clock. "I know that can't be the guys yet." He slowly got up, finally reaching the door. He was completely shocked once he opened it.

"Nick?"

"Yeah, but how did you get up here?"

"I have my ways," she smirked. "I'm Toria Sampson." She held her hand out.

"I know who you are," he responded, still a bit dazed as he shook her hand.

"I wanted to congratulate you on your win this evening. You guys deserved that award long before tonight."

Nick started to blush. "Would you like to come in?"

"I'd love to." She walked in and saw the Nintendo sitting the floor. "How old are you?"

"I'm nineteen, why?"

"Is that your video game?" He nodded his head. "Cute, real cute," she smirked.

Nick's mind reeled, being reminded of the way Mandy would complain about his addiction to the games. "It's just a way for me to pass time while the guys go out and party."

"Why don't you go out and socialize too?"

"It's not my scene. I guess you could say I'm a modern day hermit."

"Okay, let me get this straight. You're nineteen, incredibly famous, extremely rich and fabulously made yet you're not going to go out and have fun with it all?"

A smile crept on Nick's face. "You forgot considerably caring, very charming and has a voice that could tame the wildest beast."

"You definitely need to get out more," she laughed. "So, what is an obviously wonderful person like yourself doing in a hotel room before three in the morning?" she asked sarcastically.

"I just didn't wanna go out. Is that okay?"

"Mister Carter, I feel the root of the problem goes deeper than that."

This girl was quickly entering territory he didn't like. He wasn't the type to just lay it all out for a perfect stranger to see. "I'm just tired, that's all."

"Bullshit, Leighanne told me a little bit," she replied calmly.

He now felt humiliated. This girl wasn't there because she wanted to be, she was there because she was put up to it. He was beginning to wonder what she really thought of him. "I see clearly now. Well, you can go if you want."

"Why, so you have more time to sit and mope? So you have more time to think about the rotten things she did?"

His emotions were quickly turning to stone despite her obvious beauty. "Look, you don't have a clue about this situation. What Leighanne fed to you in the matter of minutes doesn't even come close to what I went through!"

"That's it, get it out!"

"You don't have a clue about the complaining I had to put up with from her. All the 'You love your fans more than me,' and 'don't talk to those girls over there,' and 'you're never home,' and 'the guys get to see you more than I do.' I was sick of it!"

"Keep it coming!" she smiled, realizing she was breaking through quite rapidly.

"I never got to see my family because of her whining! She dropped out of school to spend more time with me and we're not even married! What kind of a psycho does that? Did she think I'd give her the world at my age? I can't do that! I seem to make thousands of girls scream! Along with the guys I can sell multi platinum albums! I can help to catapult my baby brother to the top of the charts but I can't keep one girl happy!" He ignored the fact that she was in the room, letting his tears of frustration fall.

She edged her way closer to him, not wanting to make him startled. "Did you love her?" she asked quietly.

"That's the strange thing about the whole situation. I didn't fall in love with her once during our entire relationship." He shook his head, wiping the tears away in the process. "Why am I even telling you about this?" He got up and walked towards his suitcase. "Look, I'm sorry that you wasted your time coming here."

"I heard you like my voice."

He kept his back to her, not sure if he could look her in the eyes. "Yes, I think you were blessed with a beautiful voice. Leighanne offer up anymore information about me?" he questioned, a little annoyed.

"No, she didn't tell me anymore than what I asked. I wondered why you weren't at the club with the other guys and she told me some of the situation with you and Mandy. I asked for her input on what you thought of our performance. She told me you had to tell Brian to shut up in order to hear it."

She finally got a slight laughter from him. "Well, he was talkin' too damn much."

"Nick Carter, you're a man who's been bless with so much yet you feel like you have so little."

He looked at her, realizing how right her statement was.
