We've seen this movie before, Calgary
Back and forth, back and forth...That would be the Detroit-Calgary series, a lot like another series I seem to remember...Did anyone actually believe that series would be a short one? No way, not after the resilience we saw from the Flames in the Canucks series. They shall be back. And I bet it goes to Game 7. Montréal's out, unfortunately, but it's great that they even made it this far. It's disappointing to see them get swept though. I have to say I'm surprised by Tampa Bay, I didn't get to see them much in the regular season, but I didn't trust them to do well in the playoffs. But the real test will come in round 3, and I have to think that their inexperience and lack of grit compared to Toronto/Philly will catch up to them. And hopefully SJ gets rid of Colorado in Game 5, the longer the Avs the stick around, the more dangerous they'll get...In the meantime, I'm getting pummeled in all my hockey pools. This is my worst year ever.

Tomorrow Canada plays Latvia in the first qualifying round game...Damn those early morning game times. That's what the VCR was invented for, I suppose...Let's see, movies...I watched Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! on Wednesday. It was more amusing that I thought it'd be, mostly because Topher Grace was so cute. Hey, it's almost Sunday, Alias time! :D

School's out!
Yes, I am FINALLY done exams! Baa I thought I would never finish...Okay so the NHL playoffs are sucking (in my opinion anyway). None of the teams really excite me. Toronto always wins when I want to lose and loses when I want them to win, and this series so far is no exception. Montréal is floundering...sigh. I'm happy that the Sharks are up 3-0, haha, stupid Colorado...that's what you get you try to buy the Cup. But the Sharks bore me. But I have to say I'm impressed with Calgary. I'm happy that they're up for sure, I just can't seem to get excited about them. I guess no team can substitue for my Nucks :( Canada won 3-0 Tuesday vs France in the World Championships, after the 2-2 tie vs Austria in the opener. So far the Worlds have been kinda boring too, probably because we haven't played any really stiff competition yet. Today we play the Swiss, I pray that it won't be a trap-fest! I don't actually know what style the Swiss play but if they're defensive, I won't be happy...dammit, I want to watch some entertaining hockey! Okay I need to go to bed...

Cutest movie ever...haha
So last night I went to go see 13 Going on 30, starring Alias' Jennifer Garner...It wasn't exactly getting rave reviews, so I wasn't expecting too much, but I absoutely adored it. It was so cute, and I laughed quite a bit, it put me in a such a good mood! Plus I loved the cute clothes Jen wore in the movie. The theatre was absolutely filled with little girls, haha. But the movie was definitely worth the price of admission. It's basically a light-hearted fun movie, I guess it's a chick flick lol. Oh, one thing I found amusing was that Jen's character's boyfriend when she first wakes up as a 30 year old is supposed to be a new york ranger, lol.

Hockey today...Calgary lost 5-2, how typical. They'll be back for sure. And...SJ won 4-1, bwahaha! That's what you get Colorado! That puts a smile on my face :)

Tomorrow at 11:00 am on TSN Canada opens the World Championships vs Austria...In their two tune-up games they beat Hungary 9-2 and lost to the host Czechs 8-5...looking forward to seeing Cookie and Mo again! :D Go Canada (Canucks! ;)

New layout + Nucker Worlds action...
Okay, yes, a little late on the new layout but it stays...Well the Nucks season is over, the contemplation begins...Here my take on things, in a nutshell: Clearly, we lost because we were plain and simple outworked by Calgary. That can't happen. That means changes need to be made...That being said, we can't freak out and trade the whole team. Brian Burke absolutely needs to stay. If he doesn't get a contract, I'm sure Nonis or Tambellini would do a fine job filling in, but still. As far as the goaltending is concerned, Auld is a keeper for sure. He's gotta start the year with the big club. As sad as I am to say this, it looks like Hedberg's a goner, because Crawford clearly hates him...Bye bye Moose :( For Cloutier, things are much murkier...I say if Burkie stays, so does Clooch. I hope he stays...For D, I don't know...maybe it's time for Sopel to move on, the guy is a ticking time bomb with the puck. Forwards, we need more grit and playoff savvy. If only we could have Ryan Smyth...Is it time to trade the Sedins? I'm not so sure, that could be drastic. But Mo and Cookie should stay, and obviously Nazzy and Bert are untouchable, and Trev's not going anywhere...I hope Sanderson stays, especially since he straight up admitted that he was overpaid, and he clearly really wants to stay. Yes, he can be a floater at times but the highlights are just so great. I hope they can work something out.

Meanwhile, Mo and Cookie are off to the Czech Republic to play for Canada (and defend the gold medal!) at the World Championships. Way to go boys, love the spirit! Good luck to them. Also Ruutu and Salo are playing for Finland while Rucinsky's suiting up for the host Czechs...Chubie was undecided, the Sedins & Ohlund aren't going, Nazzy, Malik, and Sanderson are having surgery, Jovo wasn't invited (why??? I don't know!!!) and Bert can't go (for God's sake, he's been punished enough!) And that's all she wrote. Good luck boys, especially the Team Canada boys. More info can be found here.

On a side note, Jamie Salé & David Pelletier and Isabelle Brasseur & Lloyd Eislwe were on OTR today on Thursday, very cool. Talked mostly about hockey :D. Calgary beat Detroit and SJ beat Colorado: good stuff. Leafs choked against Philly...And today I'm going to see 13 Going on 30! Yay for Jennifer Garner :D Alright, I'm out.

And so we wait for next season..but faithfully, because we are Canucks fans
Still in a bit of shock after that game...It's such a heartbreaking way to see the season end: OT in Game 7. You gotta hand it the Flames though, they sure work hard and never give up. They had the grit and the guts and pulled it out. It's disappointing that the Canucks didn't win, I tell ya. When Cookie tied it up with 5 seconds left I jumped 5 feet in the air and killed my throat screaming. What a crazy rollercoaster! It was like night and day with the emotions. When Gelinas scored (kudos to him, btw, I've always been a fan) I was just in disbelief. It's hard to believe the season's over. It was up and down, for sure. Pretty crazy. I'll be back with more complete thoughts on the Canucks later...sigh...no more Canucks :( *sniff*...but forever and always, Go Canucks Go!
