Rock and Roll

Last night my band played a show at The Columbia with Golden Phoenix, New world on fire and The big Bad. It was a sweet show and alot of people showed up. Golden phoenix had their first gig without Chopper on Vocals...and they still ruled! I don't think that not having a lead singer detracts from their show one bit. The Big bad sound a bit like the distillers, or social D...but more rock. I really dig them. New World on Fire are fucking tight hardcore. They have the sound, the look...they just need to loosen up a bit creatively. They had a few songs that ruled, and a few that didn't. Us...we did good. When I play I feel like I'm in a battle or something. You draw the lines, rally your troops and giver. No matter how much you train, nothing can prepeare you for the battle--except your training. People keep saying we sound like Husker Du, but I've never heard Husker Du. Anyway, a bunch of my friends and peers seem honestly stoked that we're playing tunes they enjoy. That makes me feel good, especially after being the guy that goes to all their shows for so many years, enjoying their talent. Although when people tell you they like your band...but really like your band, and shower you with compliments, it feels good, but it's almost like something you don't want to be thanked for, because it's just something you do, you kind of don't want anyone to know about it, and it's sloppy and not that good...because it's not as good as Led Zeppelin, or Nirvana, or Janes Addiction, or Black Flag, or ...whatever. I spend so much time now trying to be a writer that I forget I'm a musician too, and people have always known me as a musician. Well...music is no way to try to make a living. Who are you...why are you reading this? God I'm drunk.
