BOSTON COLLEGE

Player: Eddie McCarthy

Year: 85-86

Make: CCM

This jersey style was worn by BC in the second year of their participation in the Hockey East conference. Everything is screened on, and the name on back was removed. The mid-80s home jerseys have a more primitive version of the soaring eagle crest, which helps to differentiate these between the similar style worn in the late 80s. Considering the low number of games it was worn in, it shows very nice wear with lots of stick marks.

Player: Rob Cheevers

Year: 86-88

Make: CCM

This is the road complement to the previous jersey. Everything is screened on. It shows good wear with 9 small repairs on the sleeves, shoulders, and hem. The name on back appears to have been removed. This jersey was worn during the time of BC greats such as Brian Leetch, Greg Brown, Kevin Stevens, Craig Janney, Tim Sweeney, and Ken Hodge. Because of the wear, there's a good chance this was worn for more than one season. Cheevers was a 7th round pick of the Bruins in the 1987 draft, and is the son of Bruins legend Gerry Cheevers.

Player: Unknown

Year: 1991-92

Make: CCM

This jersey is from sometime in the early-90s. It's a slightly revamped version of the previous jersey, introducing the BC font that would grace their uniforms for the bulk of the 1990s. Everything is screened onto the jersey, a common trend among jerseys from this era.

Player: Ian Moran

Year: 1992-93

Make: CCM

Moran was a star at BC who was Hockey East co-Rookie of the Year in 91-92, and has had a long NHL career with the Penguins and Bruins. This jersey shows nice wear with stick marks and paint transfer.

Player: Brian Callahan

Year: 1993-94

Make: CCM

This jersey features the Hockey East 10th Anniversary patch, worn by all member clubs in 93-94. It's a CCM airknit that has everything sewn on. No names were worn on the backs of these jerseys. It has tremendous wear with tons of stick marks across the lighter portions, as well as board burns on the sleeves. This was worn in BC's lone Beanpot win of the 90s by leading freshman scorer Brian Callahan.

Player: Ryan Haggerty

Year: 1994-95

Make: CCM

All detail is sewn on, except for the colors on the front crest, as well as the yellow outlines on the shoulder logos, which are screened. This jersey shows incredible wear, as it is littered with stick marks. Everything is original to the jersey, including the nameplate and the captain's "C." Haggerty was BC's top scorer in his junior and senior seasons.

Player: Brian Callahan

Year: 1994-95

This is the road counterpart to the previous jersey. It is a sewn/screened hybrid...the letters on the front are sewn on, while the yellow outline around them is screened, topped off with yellow stitching. The numbers and nameplate letters are all sewn. The Hockey East patch is screened onto a patch. It has very good wear with scattered stick marks on the lighter portions, as well as some nice burns. It also has the original nameplate, something that is very difficult to find on most BC jerseys.

Player: Mike Mottau

Year: 1996-97

Make: CCM

This is BC's classic jersey from the 90s, worn by 2000 Hobey Baker winner Mike Mottau. Everything is sewn onto this jersey, except for the yellow trim around the front letters and shoulder logos. The numbers are sewn, except for the screened white middle layer. This jersey exhibits fantastic wear with over 25 repairs . Mottau wore #6 in his rookie season before switching to #3. Although that #3 hasn't been retired by BC, no Eagle has worn the number since. Mottau is now playing regular shifts for the New Jersey Devils.

From the same set as the previous jersey...the wear is on the lighter side, typical of a goalie, with a few light stick marks and a large repair on the back hem. Clemmensen, a four year starter, went down as one of the greatest goalies ever to play for BC. He holds the school record for career wins (99), is 2nd in career shutouts (13) and total saves (3,234), and 3rd in career GAA (2.52). He backstopped BC to four straight Frozen Fours, finally winning it all in 2000-01. Clemmensen was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 8th round of the 1997 draft, and is currently playing for Toronto.

Player: Brooks Orpik

Year: 1998-99

Make: CCM

The only difference with the 1998-99 jerseys are the triple-sewn numbers. The screening on the shoulder patches and the Hockey East logo also seem to be of a thicker, better quality. The jersey shows great wear with a couple of large repairs, as well as numerous stick marks. As usual, the nameplate was removed. Orpik played for three seasons at BC, leading the team in penalty minutes each season, and was a member of the 2000-01 National Championship team. He was drafted in the first round (18th overall) of the 2000 draft by Pittsburgh. He is a fearsome presence on the Penguins blueline, regularly leading the team in hits.

Player: Mike Lephart

Year: 1998-99

Make: CCM

This jersey was worn by Mike Lephart in his sophomore season. It shows nice wear with several dark stick marks and two repairs. Although the BC scoresheet was dominated by guys like Marty Reasoner, Brian Gionta, Krys Kolanos, etc in his time at BC, Lephart was a crucial part of BC's success in the late 90s as well as the 2001 National Championship, scoring the second goal in that game.

Player: Brendan Buckley

Year: 1998-99

Make: CCM

This jersey is one of my favorites, particularly because it's a captain's jersey with original nameplate--both extremely tough to come across when it comes to BC jerseys. The road versions of the mid-90s CCM's are much more scarce than the homes. The wear is fantastic, consisting of over 20 large repairs on the sleeves. Buckley was a tough defender for BC and has had a solid AHL career.

Player: Marty Hughes

Year: 1999-00

This was a one-year style for BC, the season before they switched to their current-styled jerseys. This jersey shows nice wear with six repairs, although most of the stick marks have been washed out. This jersey is of a higher quality than its CCM counterpart since everything is sewn. The name on back was removed and since restored. Hughes was a versatile player for BC who played both defense and forward in his college career, and was one of the seniors on the 2001 National Championship team.

Player: Krys Kolanos

Year: 1999-00

Make: Nike

You can't ask for much more in a jersey--a rare style of a star player. The vast majority of the 1999-00 jerseys have the nameplates removed but this one was able to escape unscathed. Kolanos made a big impact in his two years at BC, ultimately scoring the game-winning goal in the 2001 National Championship game. In his brief Eagle career, he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team, and as a sophomore, was a Beanpot MVP, Second Team All-American and Hockey East Second Team All-Star.

Player: Chuck Kobasew

Year: 2000-01 preseason

Make: Nike

In the preseason of 2000-01, BC's shipment of new jerseys did not come in on time, so they wore 99-00 style jerseys with no names on back in their intersquad and exhibition games. There are only a couple of faint stick marks and a slight burn on the sleeve. The light wear suggests that only Kobasew wore this jersey, and that it isn't a recycled Jeff Farkas gamer from 99-00.

This is from the first year of BC's "new" style, worn in the 2001 National Championship season by current Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi. Player: Ty Hennes

This jersey was worn in both the 2001 National Championship season as well as the following year. It shows awesome wear with 12 repairs, and is just littered with stick marks. As with the previous jersey, the nameplate and Frozen Four patch have been restored. Hennes was a true grinder for the Eagles, who served as assistant captain in his senior season.

Player: Ryan Shannon

Year: 2001-03

Make: Nike

This is easily one of the top jerseys in my collection. For whatever reason, BC's new-style home jerseys are particularly difficult to find, and this is a great example from a star player, complete with the original nameplate. This jersey was worn for two seasons and has the stick marks to prove it, along with about 6 large repairs. Shannon was a two-time All-American and former captain of the Eagles, who went on to get his name etched onto the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007.

Player: J.D. Forrest

This jersey sports great wear with over 10 repairs, as well as a custom-shortened hem. Plus, it sports the alternate captain's "A" on the front. Player: Ben Eaves

This is another "grail" type jersey in my collection, worn by one of the most accomplished players in recent BC history. He was the Hockey East co-Player of the Year in 02-03, while also being named a First Team All-American and Hobey Baker finalist. In total, he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, and twice to All-Hockey East and All-American squads. Although the Frozen Four and captain's "C" have been removed, this jersey still retains the original name on back. The missing patches have been restored for this photo.

Player: Ryan Murphy

Year: 2003-04

Make: Nike

This is definitely one of my standout jerseys--original patch, original nameplate, good player, and great wear. This jersey was from the 2003-04 season, when all teams in Hockey East wore the conference's 20th Anniversary patch. BC jerseys are nearly impossible to find with their nameplates and patches intact, so this is a very rare find. It sports over a dozen repairs and nice stick marks. Murphy was a solid player for BC who scored the Beanpot-winning overtime goal in the season that this jersey was worn.

Although BC switched to Reebok in 05-06, the shipment of road jerseys was delayed, and they wore Nike jerseys for the first three road games of the season. Player: Peter Harrold

Year: 2005-06

Make: Reebok

Very few, if any of the new Reebok jerseys are in the hobby, particularly a captain's jersey. In typical BC fashion, the name and Frozen Four patches were removed, but the "C" makes up for a great deal of that (the patch and nameplate have been restored for the photos). The airknit material picks up repairs well, as this jersey sports 10 of them, as well as some nice stick marks and burns. This was the very jersey Peter Harrold wore as he fired the puck off the post with only a couple of seconds left in the 2006 National Championship game. He was a First Team All-American and Hockey East All-Star in his senior season, and made it to the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings as an undrafted free agent.
