Hi! My name is Cindy Powell. I have many roles, including single mom, daughter, sister, nurse, and friend. I am the oldest sister to six siblings, 3 sisters and 3 brothers, with each of us being one year apart in age. My parents are retired and just enjoying life, as they should be, after raising 7 children so close in age. I have two great children. My daughter is 26 and works as an R.N. at a local hospital. She just got married in March. My son will soon be 21 and is in college majoring in Criminal Justice. He hopes to work as a Crime Scene Investigator.
One of my biggest and proudest accomplishments in life was enrolling in college at 36 years of age to earn my Nursing Degree. I started Nursing School at LSUA in August 1992, after working at a local bank for 15 years, and graduated in December 1994 with my Associate Degree in Nursing. I am currently enrolled at NSU in Natchitoches, LA working toward my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. I am a Registered Nurse Supervisor, for the 3-11 shift, working at a local hospital in the Newborn Nursery. I really do like my job. Taking care of newborns is a very happy and rewarding experience for me.
As a hobbie, I enjoy working in my yard. But I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I especially look forward to the snow skiing trip that my children, sisters and brothers, and I plan to take to Colorado every year. Our first ski experience was in January of 2003, and we all enjoyed it so much that we already have our reservations in place for next year. We all have a really great time when we get together!
