Bizarre Accidents

this site is still under construction

Bizarre or strange automobile accidents can be very difficult and hard to explain or understand.

Recently (in July 2003) I was driving a delivery van powered by propane, and as I was slowly and carefully crossing a well used intersection on a green light, a speeding car (witnesses estimate it was doing about 100 kilometers per hour - or 60 miles per hour), came from out of nowhere through the intersection on a red light and we clipped each other, causing the car to veer out of control into a restaurant parking lot, then lurched up onto the sidewalk that "surrounds" the restaurant, where the driver then somehow miraculously "squeezed" his car between (yet missing) the restaurant and the cars parked up against the restaurant (the sidewalk surrounding this restaurant happens to be wider than normal), then continued on through to the end of the parking lot where the car eventually came to a halt after it crunched up against a fence barrier in a back alley.

Some who saw all this were pretty amazed that no one was killed, including some of the police, too, as they later assessed this accident! (From what I understand, the people in the other car suffered neck injuries, and as of yet, I have still not even spoken with the other driver, and the accident is still under investigation as well.)

Yet from my point of view, I was (and still am), totally awed by the fact that if I hadn't had an incredibly bizarre premonition the night before of me getting into an accident that next day, then I wouldn't have been as slow and cautious as I normally would have that day, and then I would have most certainly been into the "middle" of the intersection by even a half a second sooner, resulting in such a horrific crash that my propane tanks would have also most likely exploded, and if I and the people in the other car wouldn't have been killed instantly on impact, then for sure we (and others in and around the intersection as well), would have been killed from the explosion!

Indeed it's mind boggling when you think about it!

Hence as I still keep wondering about all of this, I am curious to know if there have been others who have had premonitions about accidents and what the end result of that was.

As it is, because my accident is, once again, still under investigation, it is still hard for me to fully understand "ALL" that has/is happening, and especially from the aspect why I would have such an incredible and bizarre premonition of getting into an accident!

Is there any direct correlation between this premonition, accident, and the fact that it ended up NOT being fatal? One thing is for sure though, God and His angels were most certainly in the mix somewhere in all of this, and I give Him thanks for that! (Believe me, I'm certainly not ready to die a useless and meaningless death at the hands of some cold and heartless mangled wreck of steel!)

-----

Seemingly innocent "moments in time" and places is all that it takes to have such tragedies, and I'm sure that we all can recount many a bizarre accident that has resulted in death, although my accident is the closest I've come to being involved in such a possibility at least. Obviously accident fatalities can happen to anyone and at any time without warning, and as it sure hit close to home for me, I now realize just how it must feel for those who have lost loved ones in automobile fatalities, and especially bizarre, senseless ones at that!

One of the biggest things that I am learning from this experience, though, is of the fact that there is no real "counselling" or "support" for those who experience "close calls" with death, and especially with that of an automobile accident.

I don't over react much, but this has my mind really thinking and curious as to what can be done to help those who need counselling in situations such as this.

If a person does get "professional" counselling, it can cost in the thousands of dollars, and not a cent of it is covered by the insurance companies.

As I have had a lot of counselling training and experience in the past, I find that often the best therapy is to suggest that a person write out ones thoughts, and believe me, I have pounded out many a thought over this last while, now, just to get things off my chest (and it sure seems to be helping), but sometimes I wonder if it is enough, if you know what I mean.

As a start to some sort of a solution to this "need", I want to at least be here to request and read stories from anyone who wishes to send them to me and possibly post them on this web site as well, but to also eventually document them in a book as a "timeless" remembrance. Every bizarre accident is unique and has no equal, yet maybe 50 years later, a story told now may be some sort of "help" to another then.

Because stories of this nature can often seem rather "strange" I will not judge nor question the way it comes out in your writing, as I understand just how hard it can be to make sense out of bizarre accidents. Even for me to "simply" relate the above story, took me a long time to even begin to "understand" what was/is actually going on with my accident.

------

Perhaps you have also "witnessed" a bizarre accident of some sort, or possibly even felt that it was bizarre in some sense, although it sort of seemed straight forward at first.

An example of this is when I was recently walking along a cross walk in another busy intersection, when a young man and his "brother?", a young boy, came towards me, riding their bicycles along the sidewalk. I hadn't really taken too much notice of this, and as I was nearing the curb, the young man who was first, passed me by, then the young boy soon afterward. Moments later I heard a bang and the scraping of a bicycle under a vehicle. Immediately I turned around to see a mini van grinding to a halt with a bicycle underneath it. Seconds later I saw the young man jump off his bike and run to the middle of the intersection to retrieve the young boy, who was luckily still alive, but suffered a broken leg. The boy was conscious and was telling everyone that he had lost his balance and had fallen off his bike. Fortunately he fell off when he did as he happened to do so just in between vehicles as they were passing by him, yet he still had a split second to roll out of the way of the mini van. It struck me later, though, that he must have been trying to navigate his way around me as he had come off the sidewalk by the flattened part, then in trying to avoid and going "around" me, lost his balance and fell. When this all occurred to me and so forth it was too late to question him if that was indeed what happened.

I suppose what I find bizarre in all of this is that when I realized "how" and "why" he fell off his bike, it at least helped me to somehow put to rest how such a bizarre thing like this could happen. It sure seemed strange to me at first how a boy riding his bike quite capably, could suddenly loose his balance in such an "innocent" situation. Can you imagine how the driver of the mini van would have felt if the boy would have been killed, and would have never been able to "give an explanation" that he had lost his balance and so forth. Even as it was, a lady passenger in the mini van was in tears over the situation.

At least one thing that I learned from all of this is that I should be more attentive even while "innocently" walking along the "sidewalk".

Anyway, the stories abound as to how bizarre accidents can affect our lives, so whether it involves an "accident premonition" or even just some sort of accident story that you wish to tell me, well just email it to me.

Also if you are some sort of media outlet and wish to pass on this information to your "audience", please feel free to do so and thanks!

Remember accidents happen to anyone and at any time, so if this is of no relevance to you now, well it may be of help later in life to you, a loved one or even a friend so please try to keep this "cause" somewhere in the back of your mind.
