JANE WHEATLEY, HARRISON, JONES, BRAMMER/ BREMER, BOARDMAN

5 November 1819 Jane Harrison alias Jones, 37 was charged with receiving stolen property from the house of Thomas and Joseph Marshall of Lock Court, Red Lion Street, Nottingham. Charles Wigley 18, Charles Brown 21 and Thomas Lightfoot 15, were charged with felony and burglary in the dwelling house of Joseph Marshall stealing 4 cheeses, 7lb butter, 1 petticoat, 1/9 in farthings and other property. Jane appeared in the Nottingham town assizes 10 March 1820. She was charged with being feloniously accessory to the said burglary and felony after the fact, in feloniously receiving part of the said goods on the 27th of October 1819, knowing full well the same to be stolen. Jane was sentenced to transportation beyond the seas for 14 years.

Jane made her voyage to Australia on the convict ship "Morley". The "Morley was making its  3rd voyage to Australia and sailed via Van Diemans Land where 50 female prisoners were to disembark. The "Morley" left Portsmouth, England on 28 April 1820 and arrived in New South Wales 13 September 1820. Jane disembarked with her 3 year old son Joseph and was forwarded to The Female Factory at Parramatta ( a woman's prison) by Government boat on 19 September 1820.

The following time line has been put together from documents found whilst researching Jane's convict past. I have copies or transcripts of all documents (with references) to all events in this time line.  It is unknown if  Jane returned to live with her husband John Boardman (who died in Newcastle in 1852). The final resting place of Jane has yet to be established.

Jane also had sons John and George Harrison who were transported in 1821 and 1829 respectively.
