Revelstoke is a small city nestled in a valley. Its heritage is with the Canadian Pacific Railway who founded the town. Incorporated 1899 the town has had over one hundred years of history. With large mountains surrounding it is a scenic city with lots to do. Besides mountain climbing, Revelstoke is famous for snowmobiling and hiking. There are miles of trails surrounding Revelstoke for beginner to expert bikers and hikers. Rock climbing, hang gliding, and fishing are also popular sports in Revelstoke. With two large Dam created lakes there is plenty of water for that avid fisherman or for just cruising the lakes. Visit the Revelstoke Dam visitor center, it is free and informative. Self-guided using a hand held radiophone your can take the elevator to the top of the dam. An informative 3D map shows you all you the dams along the Columbia River or you can look off the front of the dam. In town visit the world famous railway museum with restored steam train. Or visit the museum in the old post office downtown. Then there is the historic courthouse like no other in Canada. It is truly a reminder of Revelstokes unique heritage.
