Thematic Catalogue

In February 1784 Mozart started to make entries in his famous catalogue, the "Verzeichnis aller meiner Werke". The inscription on the cover translates "A list of all my works from the month of February 1784 to the month ...1... Wolfgang Amad Mozart." The last entry is dated 15th November 1791 for a cantata K.623 written for the inauguration of the New Crowned Hope lodge of Freemasons in Vienna. Freemasonry was the subject of an enquiry in 1794 and was subsequently banned throughout Austria for over a century. The K is after the botanist/compiler Ludwig Ritter von Kchel.
