"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them."
- Mark Twain (1835-1910)

It recently came to my, while doing a poll at Holly Lisle's site, that I own about 150 books, not counting magazines. That certainly surprised me! Come to think of it, there must be between 500-1000 books in the house. Anyway, I figure if I spent this much damn money on literacy, I should probably mention it on my page. So, let's continue.

I read mostly fantasy novels, and probably about half the novels on my shelves could be considered fantasy. My uncle used to read a lot of SF and fantasy, and he recently gave to our house (or maybe to me, the rest of my family doesn't like the genre that much, altough I haven't counted these in my book count) his collection of SF & F literature. I haven't even made a dent in reading them all, but I will someday. Which brings me to authors and series that I have read and like, and my picks.

Classics

First of all, I definitely cannot recommend War & Peace. It is by far one of the most boring, dragged out things I have ever read. Maybe it's better in Russian. The Oddyssey and The Iliad of Homer are okay, but I'm starting to suspect all the classics lose something in their translation into english from their original language.
