Sighthounds from Across the Country Descend on "Peace Arch Park" in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2005

It is official!! Mark your calendars and plan to attend one of the most spectacular Sighthound Extravaganza ever held in Canada. Starting July 21st through to the 23rd, 2005 in Vancouver, B.C. there will be three Afghan Hound specialties, including The Afghan Hound Club of Canada National, two specialties for Sighthounds, a Whippet specialty, and a Saluki specialty in the works.

This extravaganza, held over a three day period, will be at the Peace Arch Park which straddles the border of Canada and the USA. For anyone who has had the pleasure of showing there will know what a spectacular venue it is; huge, beautifully manicured rings and lots of shady trees for setup and easy access from the United States and Canada. The following day, Sunday July 24th, coursing will be held at a location close by.

The whole event kicks off on the Thursday night, July 21st, with a show hosted by The Vancouver Island Afghan Hound Association. Their judge will be Inge James of Mission, B.C. (Spectrum) judging the regular classes. Sweepstakes will be judged by Noel Stark of Duncan, B.C (Spirit). They will also be hosting a welcoming wine and cheese hospitality.

On Friday, July 22nd, The Metro Valley Afghan Hound Association show will have their regular classes judged by Abbe Shaw of Santa Barbara, California (Abaca) and Sweepstakes judged by Robin Aaseby of Spokane, Washington.

The Sighthound Club of B.C show, held on the same day, will have Karen Doyle, respected Saluki breeder, judging regular classes and Margaret Coe judging Sweeps.

The Afghan Hound Club of Canada National, held on Saturday, July 23rd, will be judged by Joseph Inguaggiato of Leroy, New York and Sweepstakes will be judged by Marilyn Thompson (Seistan) of Bonnie Lake, Washington.

On Saturday, July 23rd the Western Gazehound Club Specialty will have Robert Frost of Honolulu, Hawaii judging regular classes and Carol Blaikie of White Rock, B.C. judging Sweepstakes.

The whole extravaganza culminates with a coursing meet hosted by The Sighthound Club of B.C. on the following day, July 24th.

There will be several fund raising events and socials with an art auction to benefit the AHCC and afghan rescue. The Show Secretary for all these events will be Classic Show Services.
